  1. Yesterday we had a long walk, it was a good walking day. Went up past the covered reservoir, past Strelley Church and then went down to the woods. Kai had a great time going through every puddle and patch of mud, at one time he was virtually up to his knees in mud, he was only groomed a week ago but hey ho he was enjoying himself. He had a run on the meadow, good to see him stretching his legs, I could see Wolf running with him. Then we went past the alpaca (spelling?) field, although there was no sign of them, under the motorway bridge (more mud for Kai to splash through) and then past the reservoir again and back home.

It took us about 2 hours and I must admit we were all a bit muddy but had all enjoyed it. Kai met a couple of new friends although there weren’t that many people about as it was about dinner time when we went out.

Back home Kai had a drink of water and settled down on his bed, nap time calling, we had a cup of tea, then pjs on and watching box sets. A good day.

Today we haven’t been out, Kai is a bit stiff this morning and to be honest so am I, so a lazy day today after cleaning up to get rid of dirty paw prints on the floor. Kai is spread out on his bed gently snoring after demolishing an extra large pigs ear and I am curled up on my recliner listening to podcasts and having the occasional(?) chocolate.

  2. The figures are alarming both for cases and lives cut short by this virus. Now we have the South African mutation here as well. Don’t understand why when other countries had curtailed flights from there we were still allowing them but it seems par for the course unfortunately.
So the 2 people who have bought it in are being isolated but there will be at least 1 plane of people who have been exposed to it as well. It does appear the new mutations are possibly going to be more severe in the young so perhaps this might focus the necessary minds at last although I won’t be holding my breath.

  3. Today I had a txt from my doctors surgery giving me a link to follow which was about my health. Clicked on it and saw the word vaccination, great excitement. On reading it it looks like my doctors surgery is going to be doing vaccinations (hooray) as well as Queens Med (who I read did 25 yesterday, yes 25, not  actually rushing them out are they). Upon reading further it told me not to ring about the vaccination (which I hadn’t are people actually doing that?) and that I would be contacted in due course which I expected anyway.
Pound to a penny it will be the nurses at the surgery doing them, doctors seem very sparse on the ground to say the least!!

  4. It is a bit akward BK as they were so relieved when I said I would do it, I had already said no to retakes in December being in a room with 7 - 10 pupils.  I can wear my mask and face shield and the first 2 will be when only certain pupils can be there before the testing starts. I will see how safe I feel and if I am not happy will stop, they do know I am in the vulnerable category because of my age (although I must admit I don’t feel vulnerable or elderly for that matter!)
There are more in February, although I have a feeling we could be Tier 4  (Peterborough is only 60 miles away and they have the new strain there) or even in lockdown by then, and then more in March. Will have to play it by ear. Of course I could have had the vaccine by then, who knows, but will see what happens.

  5. Good start to the day, toast set off the smoke alarm and house smells of burnt toast, conservatory has sprung a leak and I have dropped and broken a mug.  At least my new guttering is working, no waterfall at the front of the house.
Going to put the bin out ready for tomorrow and then cuddle up with Kai (who is sulking a bit as we haven’t been for a walk today so treats are required) on the floor in front of the gas fire and read a book on my kindle as I have read all the books I got from the library. The ironing can wait until tomorrow!

  6. Don’t blame Europe for banning UK residents from travelling abroad. Something we should have done when we were low and Europe was starting to escalate possibly? It might focus minds more hopefully but am not holding my breath. Also wasn’t it obvious when the tier 4 was going to be put into place that there would be an exodus of people from London etc. Human nature to get away from a threat, just have to hope it doesn’t seed it throughout the country although I read that there are odd cases throughout the country anyway.
Lockdown looming again? Also seen a statistic that 1 in 40 secondary school children are infected, can’t remember the primary school one. Bit alarming that as I have agreed to invigilate in January for the exams. It will be one on one (scribing) and I will be able to wear a mask, be socially distanced and have a screen between us. Starting to wonder if I have done the right thing though.

I see there is a new strain appeared in South Africa which is more transmittable but also is more severe in the younger generation. It certainly is a tricky little b****r isn’t it:ninja:

  7. No I have a white background. The banner ends just above the magnifying glass etc. On the left  hand side is the Nottstalgia heading and above that it tells me which section I am in eg OwtAboutNowt. Can’t find any other hidden icons.

  8. Totally confused. Don’t have name/avatar in top right hand corner, good job I was signed in as I can’t find sign in/out anywhere. I’m on the default version which I presume is the right one? I am on iPad perhaps this is why?

  9. Oh dear what a pity looks like London might have to go into tier 3. Seems to be a bit of a panic about it (didn’t notice that when most of the north was in it) and one of the solutions suggested is mass testing of school children!!
Strange that as I thought we had been told

    a)they don’t really get it

    b) they only get it mildly

    c) the chance of them passing it on is negligible

    d) teachers are more likely to pass it on when socialising on their coffee breaks

But then perhaps I have misunderstood what has been spouted over the last few months by various experts including my favourite Jenny whatshername, whatever happened to her?

  10. Loved going to see Forest. First went with my dad and then graduated to the Trent End (not with my dad I hasten to add). I can remember seeing them play Derby and my friends and I being escorted out of the ground and some distance away so we were “safe” and then the lads left us and went back. I believe the Derby fans were run all the way to the train station. Think the same thing happened when they played Leicester. We were told to put our scarves away as well.

    Memories of a misspent youth:rolleyes:

  11. I can’t remember the cannons to be honest BK but perhaps someone else will.

Hi Alpha did the Middletons build it, never knew the family name of those that owned it I must admit. I think I heard/read that their land stretched right up to Bramcote including the Hemlock Stone.
When all this silliness goes away (if ever) I would like to go on the tour, want to see the haunted room and the ballroom and go up on the roof as well.

  12. Amazing pictures. We are so lucky to still have it and be able to wander round the grounds and lake for free. We go there regularly, it’s about a half hour walk, and I am always in awe of the hall it’s so beautiful, seems amazing one family owned so much.
It was really busy through the summer which was good to see and there are still quite a few going there now. We will be walking With Kai there on Christmas Day, weather permitting, with a flask (tea) to sit by the lake before walking round it and then home  possibly via the Admiral Rodney if it is open.
I have many happy memories of going there with Mum and Dad, we always went to see the police horses, and then used to picnic down by the lake.
I haven’t been inside since I came back to Nottingham, from what has been said I gather it is possibly a bit run down? I can remember my Dad lifting me up to a Bison(?) head up on the wall, I screamed the place down. I was never able to live that down, it was always brought up whenever we went there. I can remember the cases of butterflies and insects, the latter fascinated me.

Am I right in thinking it is going to be refurbished internally, think I saw something on Nottinghamshirelive about it?
