  1. Nonna, it's me again ! Take it from me ya'all, if you can write your name then you can draw. A signature is a personal style of design. Im beginning to sound like a guru ! Nonna post your picture and let's have a look. Happy to have stirred up some interest. B.
  2. 11h x 17l x10w cm. Made it from an offcut of MDF. Thank you for your kind words. I can make them smaller .
  3. Made & painted this as a tiepin. Made two even smaller, (about the size of half a wing), these I turned into earrings for 'er indoors. Somebody took a shine to them so I sold the pair !
  4. I remember as a youngster visiting my auntie Ethel and uncle Mark who lived for a while in a Nissen hut on Colwick woods. I used to catch a sneinton dale bus then get off and walk through to the site. This must have been in the early fifties and the huts were used for temporary housing during slum clearance at a guess. They the moved to the new, developing Clifton estate. (I wonder if these huts were part of a p.o.w site?).
  5. Just had a look. It reads, 'water based pure acrylic sealer with added preservatives. For interior/exterior use. It suits my needs especially when working with wood. Had good results on galvanised metal too, which can be notorious for painting. Hope this helps. Beekay.
  6. I got mine from Aldi, it said primer undercoat so bought it. Good stuff, hard wearing, colour is white.
  7. Miniature stools Gem. All in need of some touching up where chipped. Had em ages, butterflies too.
  8. Watcha PP,. I tend to use a primer/undercoat first and give it a couple of coats. Didn't realise you could still get red lead primer. For the base coat I use enamel once I've chosen the colour, usually British racing green, Black, (my favourite) dark blue or red, preferably maroon as bright red could swallow up the red roses. Always found Hammerite, although a brilliant paint is a sod to paint over but a great cover.
  9. Thank you HSR, for your kind words. Trouble is Brew, when you start doing it for financial gain it ceases to be a hobby, but more of a commitment . At least I can paint when I feel like it and not be on a schedule. Hope this makes sense. Any road, I prefer to give em away. B.
  10. Morning Carni, my sister in law has had the picture printed on canvas, about 20 x 30. Its up on her lounge wall and looks brilliant ! Don't know why I never thought of that.
  11. Another passion, photography. (Sheffield Park, where I volunteer).
  12. NonnaB, four reactions in two minutes ! Thank you for your interest. That goes for the rest of you. Barrie. Off to bed now, good night and God Bless.
  13. Got some items but I give a lot away if folks are interested. Once tried a stall down here a few years ago but not having any canals nearby, there was no interest. Did sell a few handmade butterflies though. B.
  14. Gem, tomorrow I am gonna post you some other little home made and painted items. B.
  15. Fly, a lot of boaters tend to use transfers, which is a bit like pretend or cheating. A pity really but a less expensive way to decorate your boat.
  16. Thank you Gem, the wheelbarrow came about because I had to cut a hole in wood for a pipe to go through. Used the hole cutter in the drill and ended up with small piece of wood, then I thought I could do something with this and made the barrow round the wheel. B.
  17. Made me own little wheelbarrow. And it's with my most grateful thanks to Carni and LizzieM. Without whose help I would still be dithering in the quagmire. X
  18. This is only a trial mind. Hoping I've learned to post pics. Will try not to bore ya'all. B.
  19. I don't know about 3D printers, I just wish some kind person could explain how to post pictures on here, instead of pestering some other poor soul to do it for me, via email .With greatest respect, CT.
  20. Hey SG., can I come up and paint your shed? I could do it out like a fairground caravan or old travellers horse drawn van. Obviously I would leave room for whatisname, johnny depp.
  21. Nice pix DavidW, an interesting concept.. It reminds me a little of Aboriginal art in Australia. For some smaller flowers I tend to use a round embossing tool, dipped in paint and applied. It usually leaves a perfect round that you can't always get with a brush. You know, I never thought I'd have my own thread, with so many compliments. Whodve thunk it !! B.
  22. Thank you for your kind words PP., I enjoy this type work and I would urge your missus to pick up her paint brushes and have a go. It doesn't matter how it turns out it's her work and she should enjoy it. Don't forget though it'll be your job to clean the subjects for her. The first hobbing iron I did had so many sides I'd forgotten what was on each side, (is that what's called a last?). Flat irons and hobbing irons take pride of place in the porch of my wife's cousin, up in Rise Park. The great thing with enamel paint is if it's outside, the sun bakes it and it won't fade. Hope this doesn't b
  23. Just as a sidetrack, last time I was up in Nottingham I did a sort of nostalgic tour of some of the routes I used to do, out of Bilborough depot. Everywhere I drove it was all sodding speed ramps !!! I pity the poor patient in an ambulance, especially one with back trouble. Did Nottingham get all their speed ramps in a job lot from a bizarre boot fare??
  24. Talking of coke, I once had a morning off school to get a quarter of coke from the yard on Faraday road opposite the the white horse. When standing at the bus stop for the 39, who should pass me on his bike but Mr. Sullivan, our maths and RE teacher ! Could hardly say I was ill when I went back to school. Oops !
