jimmy87notts 22
My Great X 9 Grandmother was called Ellen freak, Born in 1612 in Gunthorpe. Wife of Robert Blatherwick 1610 - 1645. Has anybody else come across this last name before?
Beefsteak 305
There were a family called Blatherwick that lived on Garden City (Off of Cavendish Road) in Carlton in the 1960/70s, they lived at around number 20 through 26 but I can't be more precise than that. The son was known as Johnny and was about 10/15 years older than me , making him well the wrong side 60 now. I've rang my Mum to see if she can furnish me with any more details but she too didn't remember when they left or to where.
StephenFord 866
I've never come across any Freaks, but I have met a few freaks (no the initial capital!) in my time.
Cliff Ton 10,467
If you look at Find My Past and search Ellen Freak, it produces several results, so I guess there would ultimately be a connection. (You can only see the basic results without paying - unless you go to a library and use the free facility) http://www.findmypas.../results?mode=B
mick2me 3,033
There was a Police Inspector Sid Blatherwick stationed at Nottingham Central (1970s)
annswabey 599
Lots of hits for the surname Freak on the Familysearch site, and free, although not complete https://familysearch.org/
Beefsteak 305
Don't know whether you lot are trying to be too helpful too fast (IE not reading the initial post correctly) But it was information on people with the name Blatherwick that Jimmy87notts was asking after
Cliff Ton 10,467
That's true Beefy, and is the point which people (myself included) seem to have missed. However, giving the thread a title of Ellen Freak is probably the source of the understandable confusion.
annswabey 599
I assumed this too. Blatherwick is a known name, though, isn't it? Freak seems much more unusual. Perhaps he means surname, by "this last name" rather than the last name mentioned in his message.
