Commo 1,292 Posted February 8, 2014 Report Share Posted February 8, 2014 BHGS involved detentions which,as mentioned elsewhere was a problem for those of us who lived a long way from school, and if the bas##rd games teacher Watson was involved it was a cross country run. What fun (not). Junior school was bad, Ruddington Endowed Boys, as most teachers were trained by the Japanese during WW 2. In Std 4 we had a mental arithmetic test every Friday and if you got less than 5 out of 10 the plimsoll was applied to your bum, but more humiliating was that it was administered by the kid who got 10, and if it was one of your friends, the severity of the whack was monitored and if it was perceived to have been held back, the teacher, Jack Hall would take over and both kids would get it!
