AfferGorritt 868
I tend to read on Sunday nights whilst missus watches Endeavour. Last week I’m sure I heard a reference to something “outside” the story which made me smile - can’t remember what it was now. Anyway, a few minutes ago some military instructor or something mentioned the battle of Umboto Gorge. I know he was on the Beeb, but Capt. Edmund Blackadder was the hero of Umboto Gorge (saved Douglas Haig’s life!) I’m going to have to start watching Endeavour to see if there are any more! Anyone else noticed? Anyone remember last weeks crafty reference? I notice it’s also full of Morse references.
NewBasfordlad 3,599
Well it should be, even John Thaw's daughter has a major role as a newspaper reporter.
notty ash 372
The Crossroads Motel was in last week's plot
NewBasfordlad 3,599
^^^^^^^^^ That's the one, I couldn't think of it until you brought it to mind, even had it in the right local. I remember saying to SWMBO "We'll have beany hat Benny popping up next"

AfferGorritt 868
One from the Radio Times ... John Thaw’s daughter plays Dorothea Frazil. Frazil is a type of ice, so D. Frazil. D. Frazil is D Ice, de-ice = Thaw! 3
NewBasfordlad 3,599
And another one from my lady, when Endeavour walked into the Crossroad's bedroom the accompanying receptionist said "sorry about the state of the room I shall have to have a word with Mrs T," This could be a reference to 'Amy Turtle' the original cleaner in Crossroads all those years ago.
