Ayup Rob,

Was it about 1968? I can remember a woodyard being in the corner of the site near the Derby road end, could it have been Fitchet and Woolacot's or have I completley lost the plot?

Rog,

I also remember the woodyard...didn't they eventually move to the Castle Marina area?

Edit: Apparently Fitchett & Woolacott are now on Willow Road, Dunkirk

The part-built QMC picture is dated 1972.

Cheers

Robt P.

I worked on there for a short time in '73. Damn small service voids between floors - spent many a day on me knees, no wonder they're knackered now.

How appropriate for a wood firm to move into new premises on a road named Willow.

I too remember that wood firm being there.

When I was a nipper I played on the park that use to be on there, me mum tells me when she was young she was a member of the Dunkirk pipe band, who practiced on that piece of land in front of the wood firm.

She tells me also that pipe band Carnivals use to be held on there too.

Bip.
