Fynger 841
Ok it is an 'it'....not there now ..she was lost in a storm mid eighties i think...end of Inham road almost where field lane was added....all chilwell kids ( me included ) made the pilgrimage. littlebro 234
Hi Fynger, To be honest I do not know the "old granny" by name. From your clue are you eluding to the huge tree that stood by the lane to Wheatgrass Farm? I believe it fell in a gale onto the garages behind Mr Whitman's house. Fynger 841
Yep SPOT ON.....old granny was well famous with us kids around there as was the 'rite of passage' by climbing her.......So if you know of her and the garages she trashed when she fell, where were you as a kid growing up....i grew up on Wheatgrass rd
littlebro 234
Hi Fynger, I lived close to Barton's garage, not up on the Nook. I went to the Chilwell Grove infants school and Rownhill, Beeston. I worked in Chilwell until mid 1988 and know it well. Many customers came from the Nook.
Fynger 841
The part of Chilwell that we used to walk thru to get to beeston then....I went to sunnyside and then Henry Mellish grammar out at bulwell....Customers ??....was that a shop then ??
