On Screen TV problem

Recommended Posts

We have a Sanyo WS TV and a Sharp VCR, both s/h "donated" by son Problem is when watching a recording, or in fact without vcr running but on video channel we get following on screen REM 6:06 2:03 (for example, could be 4:04 4:05, Tape remaining, Tape used) Any idea how to get rid of it? Not sure if tv or vcr causing it

yes I realise signal is coming from vcr, but wondered how you block it, on vcr or tv, both remotes have about 40 buttons on them with loads of symbols most of which I haven't got a clue of what they mean/do

Definitely looks like a "time remaining" readout from the vcr.

Is there any way you can take a pic of the remote and post it here, and maybe someone would recognise the symbol?

Its a certainty that its coming from the vcr, so all you need to do is find which button on the remote is the one that brings the timer readout up on the screen, you could just sit there and press each one at a time, that would do it!

Just bring up the menu screen on your VCR via the remote contol. Follow the instructions on screen till you get to the record programs part. There should be an option on there to zero it. Be careful though because some VCR's have a button that increases the time in 15 min' increments so you will end up back at square one. The other option which might be easier is to just put a tape in, press record and let the timer count itself down. Best to do this last thing at night before you go to bed.

re timer counting down, it would still read sort of used 8:00 to run 0:00 or similar, on long play, will try the other method once she's finished watching coronation st. Craig, pressed every button going! thanks you 2
