Access to Wireless Router Control panel

Recommended Posts

I have just realised my router has its WEP turned off giving anyone access to the internet via my router!

Can someone remind me how to get in and switch it on?

Hi Mick,

You should get to your router by typing 192.168.1.1 into the Explorer address bar

That's the address of my internet provider.......

192.168.1.1 is typically the IP address of a router, which is mainly used in home networks. By typing it you access your router. You may need a password to modify the router status.

The router in turn will be logged to your Internet Provider with a different IP number.

You may have to press the "reset" button on the router first - that will allow access via 192.168.1.1.

Google the router first to see if it has a default password.

Tried that and get Waiting for 192.168.1.1

then

"The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

Thanks Bro, the access number is actually 192.168.2.1.

I must have reset the modem to default some time ago, and not re set up the security.

There was no access password required to get in (Default is blank!), and WEP was set to off!

been like that for a while probably well over a year, possibly 2!

There is a log which shows all our PCs Ipod etc by name given IP adresses for access 192.168.2.2.... 192.168.2.3 etc

also some unamed computers have been given IP addresses, but no dates for these stats.

So there has been some access to my WiFi at some time(s)!

Security is set now.
