I hope no-one minds but I thought I'd post a few pictures. My photos are no match for Beefsteak's quality-wise but here goes anyway.

Compo 10,328
Lovely pics, you are lucky to live in such surroundings. Perhaps not for much longer. Had a note from the planning department this morning. Yet another windfarm has been approved - there will soon be no landscape left to view at this rate.

Compo 10,328
Stu, There are three ferries from Mainland to the Orkney Isles. The biggest is the Hamnavoe from Scrabster to Stromness; next in size is the new Cat ferry from Gills Bay to St Margaret's Hope on South Ronaldsay (linked to mainland Orkney by road), both are all year round ferries. Neither of these will allow you to see the JOG Hotel. The third is seasonal and locally called the short sea ferry; this goes from John O'Groats to Burwick at the southern tip of the Orkney Isles and connects to Kirwall by bus. This ferry terminates at John O'Groats close to the hotel. It is ideal for the one day guided tours of Orkney Mainland and Archaeology.
