  1. I don't quite know the answer to that one Mick.. 640x480 seems about as far as it will go before it breaks up and it becomes over the 50kb limit.. I think the only way to get a top resolution would be to paint it by hand onto a piece of A4 then then scan it.. but maybe someone else knows the answer?

  12. those capture cards sound good, I'll certainly be looking into one of those! and the Pinnacle 9 has sorted the prob with the DV transfer, I've just produced the first video.avi and have viewed it from the pc! B) so it's a big thanks for that one bip, I owe you one! ilko..
  13. re converting the vcr tape to dvd: if you had one of those stand alone dvd recorders which attach to the tv, it would merely be a matter of linking the vcr via the aux channel to the the dvd recorder. the result being the dvd would also be playable on your pc. the only drawback I find is editing the output, as the resultant video becomes embedded with its own menu system, and is a pain to dissect and edit... but fine if you just need to view it! ilko..
  14. Hi bip.. thanks for the info! I'll check out those progs and let you know the results B) ilko..

  17. yes they did have solid fuel heating, it was a brown cast iron like affair with a door that had a window in.. I remember them as being very cold places in winter as they suffered from lack of insulation.. and probably with us being skint at the time and unable to afford any coal didn't help either! ilko..
  18. Hi Lorra.. I remember Greg and his older brother Max from when they were at Arkwright juniors, it is unlikely to be Greg in the photo, as he was roughly the same age as me, and I left TB in 63. the last time I saw Greg was around 67ish when he was working at his dad's mini bus business 'Cumberland Coaches' on the corner of Atlas street, he would have been around 18 to 19 years old at that time.. it would be interesting to know where they went to. ilko..
  19. I bet we all remember these, built shortly after the war to alieviate the housing shortage, made to last for ten years but ended up standing for over forty. built of cocrete sections, cold in winter and hot in summer, ours had a built in gas fridge, and an outside shed with asbestos roof. I remember you could stand at the top of Wollaton park and look over to Bilborough and see what seemed thousands of these dwelling, but now all long gone. there are still a few of the two tier prefab houses in existence, but only after massive renovation by the council in removing asbestos and treating the
  20. I wonder why there are so many of these Korean students here? - what's so special about Nottm university, do they offer courses specific to their culture? chipshopology maybe?? there's one special set of traffic lights at the end of Woodside road where it meets the entrance to the uni, that you are GUARANTEED to be stopped by these Koreans / Chinese / taiwanese or whoever.. inasmuch the lights are referred to by many as 'The Ho Chi Min' crossing!
  21. re the footbridge you mention, was it off Coventry lane?, the map shows a railtrack along there.. don't recognise it much nowadays since they've smoothed it out and got rid of that nasty bridge.. apparently it's no safer along there though, as it's only a few months ago there were a stack of flowers placed at the side of the road, nodoubt the scene of a fatal crash. ..
