Hi Limey, Triumph Tiger Cub 200cc brought from Roy Wharton on Radford Rd, fell off doing my test behind the Futurist when asked to do an emergency stop on wet cobbles, think the guy felt sorry for me cos he passed me. Norton Dominator 99 600cc brought from Kingstons on Canal St (rob dog)Kept blowing holes in top of piston whenever it went above the ton. Suzuki 250 GT, first and only Jap bike,like sugar off a shovel after British bikes..6 gears(whats all that about then)..lol Owdtite.

You have just jogged my awful memory with a few names, I recall, Jeff Wheatley, Tony Davenport, Ricky Burton (Lovely 350 BSA Gold Star in racing trim), Trev Dewey, Phil and Audrey Lines......I am sure a few other names will come to me in time. One thing I will never forget is one of the Lads screaming up towards the Pelican on a brand new Honda 305, never saw a Jap bike till that moment, the noise coming from it was beautiful and something I shall never forget...(wish I could remember the lads name tho).Oh happy days!!   3. I was one of the founder members of the 41 club that used to meet outside the Pelican, will have to rattle the old brain to remember some names though! John Bolstridge was definately a founder member and I went to school with him. My Bikes. Tiger cub. Norton Dominator 99 600cc. Suziki GT 250cc Owdtite.
  4. Anybody remember (Tom?) Sandersons Tripe Shop in Parliament St?....Also, Sandersons Pies made in Bulwell and sold in most Nottm chippies before the introduction of "Pukka's" Owdtite.

  6. Just come across this and it brought back lovely memories of being down the Lane. Big Pete Russell was my boyhood hero, you could always guarantee him getting into a scrap and livening up even the dullest of games. Little did I know at the time that he liked his drink and was handy with his fists off the pitch! Oh happy days. Owdtite.
  7. I was born over the road from the Lido in the prefabs, I often went in "under the wire" and never got caught once. Shame its now gone as I learnt to swim there, not many places left for kids to learn to swim theses days is there? Owdtite.
  8. Hi, Thanks for having me on this wonderful Forum. I stumbled across it whilst looking for info on Nottm trolley buses (hence the name Owdtite). My name is Allan, born in 1947 in Bulwell where I spent my first 20 years, moved onto Hyson Green, Clifton, Newark, Woodthorpe, Kimberley and then left the County for good. Somehow I have found myself a few miles from John O'Groats wher I have been put out to grass. I was a big fan of Notts County in the late 50's and 60's and loved my Saturdays down the Lane. Hope to catch up with you all soon when I have found my way aroung the site and looked at
