Does anyone recollect the house with the name ‘Memoires de ma Mere’ on Loughborough Rd. in Bunny many years ago?The name was on the house in bold fluorescent lighting. What was the story behind it?

Whoops, it's back.
It’s you is it BK? I thought it was the Lone Ranger.

I did indeed. I started to read Wind in the Willows to both of them from newborn. I read to them every night until they could read by themselves. I think it’s very important to start reading early on and not to ‘baby talk’ them.

I seem to recall 'you can't catch me I'm the gingerbread man'.

Just been to the farm shop as we fancied a leg of lamb for Sunday. He weighed it and it was £25! I suppose it would have been cheaper than a meal out for two. You can imagine what I said!!

He bought them from a disabled cookie seller.

I just chop bits off when it becomes annoying. I’m not taking the risk of sitting in the barber’s chair and picking up god knows what bugs.

That’s one of the many practical problems that need resolving. People can’t be prevented from using their car because of the lack of charging points. This government appears to do things without thinking things through. It’s all very well to appear to be going green but it’s not so easy.

I've been looking on the Nissan site where you can calculate the mileage dependent on temperature, average speed etc. The claimed range drops dramatically if you use heating/aircon and higher speed. They're OK as a shopping/commuting car but if you want to holiday in Cornwall or Scotland or do a longish round trip they are impractical. They've got to improve the ranges substantially and have charging points where you can 'fill up' without lengthy queueing. In addition there's the higher cost price, and for how long will they be road tax exempt? The government rakes in a fortune from this and from fuel duties.

I often think I should do my ‘bit’ and get an electric car but I’m not prepared to spend considerably over the odds for a car that I can’t drive to Lancaster and back, a regular trip, without stopping to recharge. Both our cars will do the 320 mile round trip on a full tank of fuel. I think it’s too early to make a commitment. If I ever do I wouldn’t buy outright as there’s always something more ‘useable’ coming along and I don’t want to be stuck with a lemon.

We don't really need two cars but living out in the country with no convenient public transport it's useful to have a backup. We used to have three but that was my 'toy' which I gave up when I became less flexible. Now I can climb into a sportscar again I am tempted!

I'm happy each year until they put the premium up substantially next time and then I have to start all over again. Don't these people want repeat custom?

....especially if you buy them when they're going cheap!

I used to use NFU for both home and car insurance until they started to try and rip me off. I look at the compare websites annually now. The insurers don't appear to want customer loyalty.

It’s certainly not like that round here in the Trent Valley. All the land is intensively farmed. The small fields get snapped up by the horsey types for grazing. We are unusual in having a piece of land which we keep as a traditional meadow and it supports a host of wildflowers. Even this is mown annually for hay but that’s an ancient traditional practice.

An old aunt witnessed the building of the previous ice stadium. She saw workmen throwing human bones about from the excavations and vowed from that day that when she died she would be cremated.

I’m entering for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, ‘Masterchef’ and ‘The Great British Bake Off’ next year in the hope that they will achieve Olympic recognition.

If we're talking of Southwell, the House of Correction was on Burgage Green, on the outside the town and the facade of this is still standing.
The school was formerly the Edward Cludd which became the Minster School. That's where the pool and leisure centre are.
How's your day?
