  3. Hi Radfordred RadY thats the place, I can remember Ray, quite distinct with the single arm. Used to frequent the Cross Keys as well and as a young un as a cub. Knew Russ Palethorpe, Richard & Robert Pate, Phil Hickling. Come from the other side the railway over New Bridge.
  4. I went to the Ilko a few times, but before that the Windsor on Hartley Road for the Saturday Matinee, Flash Gordon etc. But back to Ikeston Road, does anyone remember a youth club on the road, all I can vaguely remember is going up concrete steps up to the door. There used to be a disco with DJ in a dark part of the building I know it was there in 67 as that particular night the DJ played many Otis Redding songs as he had died that day in a plane crash. Soulful
  5. Came across this site whilst looking for memories and when Robbie #68 & Carni #53 mentioned the Cavendish( now the Blue Note) it reminded me of the good times I had there. In 1968/69 I used to work behind the bar, sometime the public others the lounge. The penultimate was working in the Disco Bar which used to be packed most Fridays and weekends. The landlord, Bob, would not tolerate any trouble and wouldn't worry about resolving it outside with a friendly tap.
