  1. We also had a Yorkshire terrier who had a penchant for yoghurt. Trouble was, he would only eat it from a spoon. I blame 'er indoors for that.
  2. When we were first married and lived on Burford Road, Forest Fields, we had a cat who regularly had fresh cod steaks or tinned salmon. I could come home and find the cat with salmon and me with potted meat sandwiches!
  3. Forgive my ignorance, but I don't understand, 'see my Sunday at 6.02. ???
  4. One of those sort of occasions when you could give a million pounds for camera, eh Margie.
  5. Those windows with the leather straps were the norm for railway carriages of the steam age and for a long while after. They can still be found on Steam preservation societies. That's where Nostalgia comes into it's own.
  6. CT., Do you reckon the lad has got his right arm out of the window, leaning all casual like? ( See above right).
  7. How did carrier bags get brought into the equation? I remember the buggers though. Used to cut into your fingers if carrying anything heavy. And could always guarantee that the bottom would fall out if they got wet, usually about ten yards from your doorstep or when getting on the bus, to go home !
  8. Had a look on Mr Google maps and the railway carriages are at Brunel Holiday Park. They have four coaches.
  9. @MargieH that would explain it then. Any road ! nice to talk to you. I know bugger all about cars so thanks Ian for identifying the car.
  10. The tail end of that car is definitely not the same as the car in your second picture. Is that you sat next to your dad? I could have been wrong in my assumption of a face at the window. Tried to enlarge it but it just blurs.
  11. Margie, it looks as though there is a youngsters face against the lower part of the window on th far left side. Could it be a young boy? Also, can you remember what car it was in front of the coach?
  12. There are a number of converted railway carriages at Dawlish Warren, Devon. I believe but may be wrong ,they are holiday homes for railway employees. ( I'll have a look and see if I can find the name of the site). I've no doubt there are plenty converted coaches scattered about this fair land.
  13. What you could have done Col, while on your sun lounger, would be to spray a little Fairy liquid over yourself and then had a light Alfresco shower and shampoo
  14. You know what they say Nonna. In America, they allus have to go one better. No doubt when you get your temperatures drop, Katyjay will get an Ice Age !
  15. Living the high life eh Willow. Some people know how to push the boat out.
  16. Thanks for the clarification Phil. Much obliged.
  17. That area, between Skegness and Mablethorpe must have the largest concentration of holiday caravans on the planet. How can you sit and relax if you're in the middle of one of those sites? Do the owners supply you with a satnav or some other navigation aid, if you decide to go for a walk. Must admit I was getting confused. When I looked on 'maps' I thought it were somewhere near Newark. Is there two Winthorpes then?
  18. Wouldn't be surprised if he's got a copy of "Fly Fishing" by J.R.Hartley.
  19. Would have thought that was the buying price.
  20. Do people actually still go to Winthorpe to holiday Carni? Ps.When we are eventually released from high risk self isolation, are there any decent b + b in Nottingham?
  21. There used to be a transport cafe in the middle Of Donnington, Lincs. I used to take great delight in asking for egg and chips and if they were doing roast beef dinners, i would ask for gravy on my egg! Much to their disgust.
  22. Katyjay, following on from your experience with the butterfly. When we were at our sons funeral, after the church service we walked behind the coffin toward the grave. Now in that 13th century church they kept a flock of Jacob sheep, who used to run away when being approached. As we passed by their fence they ALL came to the fence and just stood there. Not only that but the church cat followed us to the graveside and sat at the edge until the service was over and didn't move until we dispersed.
  23. Hi Brew, I tend to do it with a ,' belt and braces' attitude. At the plug end, I exchange the original to a plug with built in circuit breaker. Although I'm not likely to run over the lead with a hover mower indoors.
  24. Hi Nonna, hope you are doing ok. Tina firmly believes in butterflies being spirits. When we get one flying near, she insists it's our youngest boy come to visit. Hopefully have attached your Red Admiral. Not a good shot as it wouldn't stay still. Regards, B.
  25. Quite right Col., just sat here looking at my tv unit and I have a 6 gang extension from one socket, but that goes for, tv, little dvd player, micro hifi unit( used as a sound system for crap tv speakers), and bubble tube lamp, leaving two spares, one of which I use for charging my ereader and tablet. Should imagine if I had 'em all on it would be less than 3 amps.
