  1. Have made a start Sunshine ! With a bit of luck might be able to do a bit more tomorrow and possibly post you a picture. The light has been terrible today, really struggling to see what I'm doing. This copper kettle is by far, the worst item Iv'e ever painted on. It's heavy and bloody awkward shape. Keep cutting my hands when trying to hold it, ( got me hand stuck inside yesterday ).

  2. @katyjay, I can go one better than that. Many years ago, in mid 70s, I had a beard when I worked as a ranger at the National water sports centre. Had the beard for quite a while, then....

Our son, Andrew said to his mum, "That's not my real dad is it?"

Tina asked him what he meant by that, and he replied, "My real dad's got a beard". Tina looked at me and shocked said,

"Oh, when did you shave that off"?

To which I replied, '7 nights ago ! And we've been to bed since then' !!

  3. Thank you Lizzie. Just finished putting another little friend next to it. It's very heavy and difficult to hold still. When sun shining on it, it's blinding and you can't see where to apply the paint. Tomorrow I will start the other side and I think it will be either a Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell or Swallowtail.

  4. Hiya Mary, how do ! As I recall, we have already discussed this on two occasions. And at the risk of repeating meself, I can't be motivated to purchase the special brushes, inks and paper required. At the moment I've got some  projects on the go, including a copper kettle for my B.i.L., also a pair of mini churns that I want to do as a pair, although I've no idea what the subject will be yet. The kettle will be Butterfly themed, as per request. Are you going to show me the Panda you painted?

  5. What part of Radford did you live Lets? And which school was it, you walked to.? I lived off top end of Denman street, on Denton street. Stayed there until we moved to Kennington road in 1957. I'm always interested in anybody who lived in my neck of the woods, ( even though I'm a bit older than you ).

Barrie, why did you fall out of bed in the first place ?

Mrs B., inn answer to your question, falling out of bed was not a choice. I have absolutelý no idea how or why. It was very early in the morning and I was fast asleep. It was only when I hit the deck that I awoke with a start. I can only assume that I had migrated to the edge and gravity took over. End result, two bruised, sore knees and friction burn on my toes.

  7. And another thing CT., the floor seems to be getting further away, the older you get. When I fell out of bed a few weeks ago, it was the Devils own job to get back up onto the bed. My poor old legs simply could not push me up.

  8. Just been looking at some Youtube footage of the flooding in and around Notts. Did,nt realise it was so bad. The footage was around Dunham bridge and Girton and it looks absolutely terrible. Don,t know how close some of you guys are to that area but if you are, then my thoughts are with you and hope you are safe. One section showed the A57 head towards Dunham toll bridge and apparently 3 lads decided to ignore all the police stop signs and road closed etc and drove on. The roof of their car can just be seen above the water. The lads were all rescued, the silly buggers must have thought they were invincible. Any road take care all of you in that neck of the woods.
