  1. That pub youre referring to Ben, is 'The Beechdale'.

Its situated where Beechdale veers off to the right and the road that goes straight ahead is Honington road. Wigman road starts at the next traffic island, ( this would be the route of the original buses, 56, 60 and 13 ((which turned left onto Glaisdale drive)). Often called in that pub when finished work at Bilborough depot. All those shops below Robins Wood road, I often pulled up at the bus stop and dash over to the paper shop for a paper or packet of fags. This was back in the mid 60s.

Are you coming up to Thoresby scrumping this year Beekay?

Too right sunshine ! Trouble is, when I get up there, all the bloody fruit will be gone. I shall have to call in Morrisons or Aldi in Nottingham, on my way and buy my pears there. Still, it's the thought that counts int it Ian.

  3. And I wish you all the very best to you both Lets.

We celebrated our Golden back in 2015 up at Thoresby hall when we planted a pear tree and go back to see it every year. So you were virtually childhood sweethearts, and long may it last.

You'll have to PM me the date, so I can send you an anniversary card. B.

  4. Spent quite bit of my secondary school years at Cottesmore. Radford blvd., used part of it as extra classrooms. Not only that but that was also where we went for school dinners. At one time my mum got a job as a kitchen assistant, when I stayed for dinners, my mum would come out into the dining area and shout 'Barrie do ya want some more taters, veg, or custard eg'. I would look for corner to hide in.

( She was the same if she got on my bus, then tell everbody "That's my son drivin' "! ! )

So last night I idly checked my 'Euromillions'  Lottery numbers against the published 'winners'..

07, check!, 16, check!, 18, check!.. a slight rise in pulse and then..20..nope.. guess it's another win of abour 3 quid... then

32, check!! pulse rising again.. 4 out of five can't be bad.. then the Lucky stars.. I had 02 and 04.. winners were 01 and 03...

So near..yet so far..  still I'm one of only 397 people who've won £22.60.

I won't let it change my life...

Where do I send my begging letter Col? It will help get out of Angola.

  6. @MRS B, Yes'm, all being well I'll be coming up on the 11th, so I don't have to rush to the meet up. Only sorry I cannot get to the March meet up. Could've visited a cousin Iv'e never met before, but all being hopeful, will make time to see her in Dec.

  7. @MRS B, Right oh Mrs. Lady. I'll make sure to bring me own knife, fork n spoon, with me own plate, ( all suitably labelled with me name). Assuming 'er indoors lets me come that is). By the way, I'll be going up to Thoresby the day after.

  8. As Brew kindly brought up the subject of scars, Iv'e got one on me wrist too, where I smashed a 'flu tube and a piece shot in the air and trying to protect my head, I raised my arms and the piece caught on my wrist..8 stitches, thank you doctor.

But me best scar is right across my tongue, where I bit it in half. Result...7 stitches !
