Moving on from the "News House" thread, does anyone know what folk clubs are currently runnin gin Nottingham/shire?

When i left in the mid 80s there were several, some of which were:

Co-op on Gregory Boulevard

NTMC at the News House

Robin Hood in Beeston

Carlton Folk club on Mapperly top

White Hart folk at the White Hart, Lenton

There used to be a listing of folk clubs (and others) in the NEP - I think on Friday.

I think The Plough in Hickling, still has a folk night, I used to go there quite a lot in the 80s....

I remember going to a fold club regularly in the 60s on Canal Street - I think it was at the Bowling Green. I also sang at a pub on Carlton Hill, can;t remember the name. On the other thread (News House), it was mentioned that it was difficult to find out who was on at the Gladstone - I get a regular email informing me who is on (I signed up when I went a couple of years ago to see Paul Downes, who is an old friend of my wife).

There are still folk clubs running, but a lot have been replaced by Open Mic nights which are run at most pubs it seems and generally have a wider range of music (not just folk).

On the subject of folk music, was just driving past Southwell earlier and if anyone is interested they are having a Folk Festival next to the Workhouse from 5th to 8th June
