Guest
About '70-'73 I had a school pal who lived on what is now Thrya grove ( was it always so?) Anyway it was a dead end little road, opposite his house was a line of tack rooms and stables- great to explore. Anyone in NS land know anything about them- similarly across on Wood borough rd. (left side, looking towards say Ransom rd.) There were big blue gates which hid stables and outbuildings.. any sleuths out there?..ta Ian.
NewBasfordlad 3,599
If I am right those big blue gates are now big green gates, not sure but I think they were something to do with Park House. Rear exit onto Woodborough Road, front entrance of Lucknow Drive.

mick2me 3,033
What I did not know was this is the infamous 'Beechwood' Children's home, where abuse took place! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-34931987?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_east_midlands_today&ns_source=twitter&ns_linkname=english_regions
hippo girl 1,995
Beechwood is now flattened and Eco houses going up ....
Rob.L 1,091
Beechwood is/was next door, to the right of the picture. Currently a sea of mud as the footings go down for yet another load of four/five bed executive homes. I believe that the stables are used as offices for a building firm - or is that a bit further down the hill?
hippo girl 1,995
Rhodes builders ?.....
Guest
When I posted this originally, I think I meant another set of gates further up on the same side,Woodborough rd. Levels out at this stage,a cul de sac was opposite and a Datsun garage about 100 yards up on the opposite side.
Cliff Ton 10,587
There is another ex-stables further down Woodborough Road, near the junction with Magdala Road. And the Datsun place was Coppice Garage, on the corner of Ransom Road.

Rob.L 1,091
#11 Ah, that's Rhodes Builders place! What used to be Coppice Garage is now the vet's surgery we use, with a Sainsbury Local behind it.
