Cliff Ton 10,470
Sad news. I definitely remember the name and the person, but I'd forgotten he played for Forest (apparently 19 appearances) in the late 70s.
Marrowman 34
Stan Bowles was signed for Forest for £250,000 in 1979. He started well, scoring 2 goals in his first 3 games but didn't score any more after that. He played a total of 22 games in all competitions. According to Larry Lloyd Bowles refused to get on the plane for the European Cup Final against Hamburg which is why Forest only had 4 substitutes out of the 5 allowed. Stan therefore missed out on a cup winners medal and never played again for Forest. Cloughie sold him to Leyton Orient.

I have never heard that European Cup Final anecdote before. I wonder what brought that refusal on?
Marrowman 34
I'm not sure Oz, but it was possibly a fear of flying.
