Stan 386
I have recently received a DVD sent kindly by Rob from UK to Australia. My player will not let me run it. Any of you boffins out in computer and DVD land know how to resolve this problem?
Caz 25
Yeah buy a really cheap DVD player no more than $60 bucks that'll play it,don't ask me why but the same thing has happened to me,the cheap machine will play anything, the expensive machine is very selective. If not it must be something to do with the way it was copied onto the disk,in a different form to the one your DVD player recognises.
rob237 89
Stan, You require a player which is 'Region 2' compatible.... Presumably your machine is only 'Region 0'? Assumed that Region 2 would dominate in Oz, or at least be commonly available, if only due to the number of transported Brits. Cheers Robt P.
Qfive 1
Stan, There are soft Hacks around to make DVD Players into multi-region. Depending on the age, make, and model of your player. Most of the Hacks are done using the remote control. Here is a link that will give you some idea of what is involved. Have a Looky HTH
Stan 386
...thanks for that,it is surely very useful to be able to obtain helpfrom the IT wizzes on this site, not to mention the free DVD from another member(Rob). Stan 386
Progress report. Have re-read SNASM again and just looked at the DVD sent by Rob. Quite substantial differences between book and film. I have now written to USA for `The Ragman`s Daughter' also by Silitoe and set in Nottingham. Caz you may like to try the tip offered byQ5 to adjust your player. Although I did not find the LG DVD player I have, I found one that was close and looked similar and the Hack code worked. Trouble is my freezer froze! Seriously ,though, thanks to you all,and have a look at the film I mentioned.

alisoncc 379
When DVD players come off the production lines in Taiwan, China, Korea or wherever they are all the same. Techies in the different countries where they are shipped to then customise them for their region. The codes to change them are freely available on the Web. Over the last year I have tweaked quite a few to make them all regions. It's something that can easily be done using the remote control, and a particular sequence of buttons. The sequence tends to vary by manufacturer and model. A few websites enable you to select the player you have and then provides the codes. Hugs Alison
