Frank 13
Out and about over the Bank Holiday weekend, me and Mrs Frank came across something we had not seen before on our walking travels. Out in mid Derbyshire Peak District, we saw quite a few examples of where people had hammered coins into fallen tree trunks or tree stumps? What is the significance of this? Any one seen it before? Money Tree comes to mind??
Fynger 841
Old tradition is that if you take a part of a live tree you should bury silver in its roots.....maybe its something to do with that.....similar anyway ?

littlebro 234
Woodcutters used to hammer pennies into tree stumps as the copper killed the stump. More recently copper nails have been used. The image examples appear though to be "wish trees"- similar to tossing coins into a wishing well.
