My knowledge of Notts aviators begins, and ends, with Albert Ball VC. Cheers Robt P. Hi Rob, No, not Tom Wheatcroft. Sir Michael Bishop is on the right, guy in the middle is from Schiphol Airport. The guy in question had an aviator background but should be known for his work on the ground. Bishop had the planes, Schiphol was a destination. What did they both need in the UK? Perhaps think along the lines of your last question??

littlebro 234
Runway=tarmac=Macadam. Just kidding. It always seems odd when they say 'the plane is on the tarmac' when the hardstandings are invariably concrete

Limey 242
I knew the guy who did the radar installation at East Midlands when it first re-opened in the 60's - but that's not him!

Hi Limey, you are correct, it's not him. The airport was built in 1964/5 and opened in April '65, the guy in the image was the first director, Googling should give you his name. Cliff Ton 10,505
Hi Limey, you are correct, it's not him. The airport was built in 1964/5 and opened in April '65, the guy in the image was the first director, Googling should give you his name. Finally, the clue I've been waiting for. I've been looking at his mug since this thread started and I knew I'd seen him somewhere before. I worked for British Midland at the airport in 1974-75 and it was all vaguely familiar The answer is !! ERIC DYER
