  1. Well I had a piece of both of those yesterday. Had apple cake today and made raspberry and white chocolate traybake for the Christmas stall tomorrow. Perhaps keep off the cake next week and go on to mince pie trialling!
  2. Well, I got on the scales this morning and have lost 2lbs this week. The cake diet is clearly the way forward! Mrs B
  3. Beekay, me too. My favourite has to be coffee and walnut though.
  4. Cake for the next 3 days - I am at a coffee and cake do organised by my Pilates teacher tomorrow. Saturday I am running a composting workshop (with cake provided) and Sunday I am helping on a Christmas stall for Loughborough in Bloom selling guess what? CAKE. I do love cake but my thighs will be like two Swiss rolls at the end of it. Might have to ration myself. Mrs B
  5. He came out of school with zero quals and everyone said he would come to nowt. He did come to summat and for most of the 22 years loved it. A worry for me when he was in the first Gulf War and Bosnia but ended his stint being a staff car driver which was less harrowing for both of us. He found it very difficult after he came out of the Army but now all stable and every so often comes across someone he knew.
  6. I whacked someone with a rounders bat once and fractured her skull, not on purpose, she was my best friend. She was standing right behind me when I swung the bat round to hit the ball !
  7. My husband (Mr B) attended our local remembrance service this morning and was proud to wear his medals from 22 years in the army RCT/RLC.
  8. Did you know that muntjac originally escaped from Woburn Park in the 1920’s and are now officially classed as an invasive species ?
  9. We have a Men AND Women in Sheds in Loughborough. They all work great together and have a fantastic garden at the back of the unit.
  10. Bloomin heck you are always there at the right time to catch these birds on film, great photos plantfit.
  11. We’ve not had a problem with egg supply, usually the blue shelled eggs have very yellow yolks (as all eggs were back in the day). I have converted to Burford Brown eggs which also have very yellow yolks. We used to get eggs from our neighbour on the allotment but sadly his chickens were savaged by a fox a couple of weeks ago.
  12. This is a great photo, it looks so happy. You are very lucky to have seen and captured it.
  13. Are they any relation to the Wheeldon family in Castle Donington?
  14. We go up to the Lake District twice a year and always stop at the M&S outlet at Talke off the A500 so my T shirts are always from there or Primark in town here. You can also use offers on your Sparks card at the outlet although unless you’re passing or on a day out round there it’s a bloomin long way to go.
  15. Also Cherry B or snowballs. I was quite ill with too much cherry b one night and remember asking the guy in the MGBGT (who I was trying to impress) to stop the car on the bridge so I could be sick over the side. Not exactly the result I was hoping for!
  16. Goodness Barley Wine, don’t think any ever passed my throat but my sister in law loved it, usually in the Flying Horse where she met my brother. The rest is all history as they say.
  17. I was at WB County Grammar, just spent the 6th form there when it went comp. What a cracking school, loved it.
  18. Outdoor ones are bad enough with my eldest cat! A rocket has just hit my upstairs window, fortunately no damage as the stick was 40 inches long. How is that safe in a residential area?
  19. I can remember indoor firework that you used to set off in a box of sand
  20. I can remember going to the AA HQ for maps with my dad. We still have one of those AA badges that you used to have on the front of your car.
  21. Beekay you’re always kind and help people out and as I say that’s all that matters. You’re entitled to have a rant, sorry if I instigated that. Mrs B
  22. Beekay you need to go on “Long lost family” doesn’t matter where you came from, it’s what you are now that matters.
