    Spainish gold....egg n milk chews,,sambo bubbly,bazooka bubbly..texan bar...zoom suckers......and before the 1971 great ripoff i used to get 8 blackjacks/fruit salads for 1d....then when the new money came in it was 2 for 1p.....total rip off.....

  4. there`s a bloke going down there from Beeston Marina in a Landing-Craft...one used in the D-Day landings.....i asked the bloke "had it any bullet holes"....it had none......if i was there in 45 i think thats the boat i would have crossed on......

Yeh their the ones that frig me off so much......45mph in the 60...swerving to stop you over taking...but still doing 45mph through the 30mph villages....or if you get past them they flash their lights at ya.....must admit it takes all me will power not to stop and shove them lights where the sun dont shine

  10. if its been raining makesure you take ya wellies and watch out for uncovered drains.......have a look at this book "the rise&fall of Nottinghams Railway Network"...brought it the otherday....very good book
  11. yeh that little branch line off to mapperley brickyard is in woodthorpe park and if you go up there and kick around in the undergrowth you`ll find the sleepers still in place after all these years
  12. computers/playstations.....who needed them when we had all that to play on....tunnels,dens,newting,fishing on the brickyards,riding the brickyard tubs(getting chased by brickyard messters)....and in winter when the brickyard ponds had frozen there was ice skating in owd pit boots stuffed with newspaper....lol........thinking about it we used to do a right at the juction behind B&Q and head towards Mapperley tunnel which came out at gedling pit....Now them pitmen could Bloody RUN!!!!!! Some good chase`s off there, especially if we were caught riding the rope incline up to the coalyards on
  13. that would be "Daybrook".....the line had to cross mansfield road........sherwood station is on woodthorpe park.......we had a mint den in the station then one one day we turned up only to find it had been flattened....saying that we still had fun playing on the flats as they were being built....lol
  14. so did they have two turntables at vic....i know at the north end left of the mansfield road tunnel they had one.....but that was surrounded by steep sand cliffs

  20. not sure on that although i`ve heard the name mentioned.....to be honest some side of the Caulton clan is patchy to me.....caulton isnt what you`d call a common name....pretty local to bulwell n golden valley

Can remember going there as a teenager with me uncle Jack n aunty Mary Bakewell who worked at Andrews....sat/sun night... flipping heck the place was always rammed....it was a proper working mans club so thick with smoke my eyes used to stream....and as i remember never a crap act on the stage.....oh yeh and always plenty of good looking girls to get talking n that to while the owd un`s danced and bingo`ed the night away to who ever was on the stage
  22. got to say that your site is most excellent.....very intresting,informative,funny & sad .....as i`m probaly in the 1st genration of "Bulwell Caulton`s" not to av gone down`t`pit....i did go to moorgreen for me interveiw but when me dad found out he went mad.....and at that time i still feared his belt as it did come keen.....lol
