I think they had registrations like MOO 1 etc.

  11. Can you remember the Sunday night disco at (Edith) Colemans Dance Hall, Clumber Street. It was'nt licenced and you used to have to sneak out of the fire exit, to the Crystal Palace Pub, to get a drink. I remember a couple of records of the time. Love of the Common People - Nikki Thomas and Neanderthal Man - Hot Legs (later to become 10CC) The latter the girls would sit on the floor, crossing and uncrossing their legs. I remember Edith walking round making them all stand up. It was a wierd place. Rectangular room, with seats round the outside. The crowd would walk round the outside. till

  17. Edwin is one of the great soul singers of all time. I first saw him in about 1970 at a Small vilage hall type of club which I can't remember north of Nuthall? Anyone any ideas. The next time I saw him I think was 'Intercon', the night club that used to be below the Clocktower entrance to the Victoria Centre. The final time I saw him was in Issabella's Night Club about 1978. At this time he was carrying a lot of weight. I remember him wearing a Kaftan type outfit. Did anyone else see Edwin live anywhere? I did upload the picture to WWW.FINDAGRAVE.COM as they did not yet have an image
  18. In 2003 we lost one of the most underated Motown artists. Edwin settled in the UK many years ago, and died at his home in Nottingham in 2003. Since his death I have searched for his location of burial without success. Then I found that his grave was at Wilford Hill. Our member 'BiP' found the exact location :D and on Saturday I was able to get a number of images of his grave and surrounding area with my digital camera. If you wish to visit him, Edwin's grave is located plot No H19-91 in the traditional area at Wilford Hill [southern] cemetery, Nottingham. Climb the path up the hill to t
  19. Thank for those leads Ann. I remember this as "Old Orleans", But you are right it was a 'Berni' But what it was called escapes me. "Griffin & Spalding" I had totally forgotten. This large upmarket store is now of course Debenhams. The scala is another one I forgot. When My mum brought me to Nottingham for a treat in the 50's it was 'The News Theatre'. Also now gone and in the shaddow of Griffin & Spalding on Long Row was Lyons Coffee house, which you entered by climbing a set of steps as I remember.
