First of all i'd like to say thankyou all and i'm sorry for the late reply. My daughter came out of hospital on friday, stitchers in one leg and the other in plaster and the odd scrape and bruise on her body but she'll get better and the most important thing is " it could have been worse". We all went for a walk today and what a joy it was to see the rest of the brood arguing over whose turn it was to push the wheelchair. It's got to be the first time i've not told them to stop shouting. Thank you again for the messages and i'm sorry for not being on here sooner but i did have a good excuse. A

I don't really know why i'm writing this but I've got to get it off my chest somehow and in the present circumstances this is the only place i know. Yesterday my 8 year old daughter was hit by a car while crossing the road and the first thing we knew about it was when a near neighbour was banging on the front door to inform us. We have 6 kids and are always being asked their names and how did we pick them so i thought i'd explain on here also. Here goes... Kain Brian Robert age 16... The first name is from an album by New Model Army (the wife's choice not mine), 2nd was my dads name and the 3rd is my name. Tayah Asha Kiara age 10... The first name came from the wife again (who am i to argue)she thought it would be unique but we have seen a few Tayah's around since, 2nd is named after a good friends daughter ( a muslim who was quite honoured that we would do that) and the 3rd is after a male friend of mine "Kieron"

Just come back from my local drinking hostelry and the reason she is all in black is because they are celebrating something to do with WW2, and as Firbeck said, that was her colour scheme back then.

The Duchess passed by me on the East Midlands Railway Centre line today Firbeck.

Didn't know where to put this but here goes, I've just seen the Duchess of Sutherland in steam painted BLACK. I don't know the reason why, but it doesn't look right.

Now funny you should metion that Limey, Butterly Engerneering Works was demolised recently and the rumour was that they had an old Spitfire in the works that they did work on, its also widely believed that there are bits of WW2 aircraft buried on the site. I have a friend who use to work there but he can't verify this, but he did tell me about merlin engines being scrapped nearby, he reckons RR dumped more than any scapyard could handle. He also says that a lot were just buried in the old Quarries around Crich and that area because there was not a lot of money to be gained in recycling them.

We used to wrap dog poo up in newspaper, put it on somebodies doorstep, set fire to it, knock on the door and run off. Whats the first thing you do when you see paper on fire? Yes you've guessed it, stamp it out with your foot. Oh happy days. !rotfl!

Come on Pete, stop being so tetchy and take a chill out pill lol. I don't pretend to have anywhere near the knowledge and understanding that you and a few others on here have but i could look at your photo's and attached comments all day and everyday so please keep them coming. While you might not think they are good enough for a book there are a few people on here (myself included) who would disagree with you. You have too many memories and photo's to not let them be shared with the masses. Keep em coming please.

It's not the same old Blue Bell Hill School anymore Stan, this one is on the same site as Rose Hill School. I think the only thing left of the old school is the dinner hall which is used as a community room. I've got lots of memories of Blue Bell though, can you remember the line of outside toilets at the back of the playground? One line for the girls and one for the boys lol. Swimming lessions were at the Victoria baths in the Oval pool, i can always remember standing on the ledge that ran all the way around it just under the water level. Can you remember the one armed barber on Gordon Road?

When the Police are not too busy beating up "law abiding protesters" they do put their lives on the line, as witnessed today by the funeral of the Policeman who died in the Cumbria floods. My thoughts are with his family today as they are with all the other's whose loved ones die in the line of duty.

Right then here goes, was it used to record the effects of the bouncing bomb raids on the German dams? I know its a long shot but i cannot think of anything more famous at the moment. I tell a lie, could it also have come from a Vulcan to record their bomb affects?
