  3. Wonder if they will try to stop Sikhs carrying their daggers?
  4. Also for anyone being able to have a `job' in Nottingham just take away the parking tax, from April 1 2013, the charge per space will increase to £334, rising to £364 in April 2014 and to £381 in April 2015. Its almost as though Collins has a death wish for our city. With strong moves afoot to shift Boots manufacturing to Asia, looks as though everyone will be on the dole or employed by the state.
  5. Recent statistics from the Office for National Statistics suggest residents of this city have the lowest household disposable income of anywhere in the UK. The average income per individual householder after tax, but including benefits, is £16,034 a year. In Nottingham it is £10,834.
  6. “As they passed the rows of houses they saw through the open doors that men were sweeping and dusting and washing dishes, while the women sat around in groups, gossiping and laughing. What has happened?' the Scarecrow asked a sad-looking man with a bushy beard, who wore an apron and was wheeling a baby carriage along the sidewalk. Why, we've had a revolution, your Majesty -- as you ought to know very well,' replied the man; 'and since you went away the women have been running things to suit themselves. I'm glad you have decided to come back and restore order, for doing housework and mindin
  7. Carni, how`s about a right royal opinion to back you up. "Charles I, lost his head here completely, declaring the view to be - "the finest in all my kingdom."
  8. Oakley, Blue Bell Hill school was one of the main `feed in ' schools for Pierrepont. You could try `Friends reunited' and send messages from there and also put a notice on the web page.
  9. Carl Froch defeats Mikkel Kessler on points in super-middleweight world title fight at London's 02 Arena Carl Froch triumphed last night in a thrilling world super-middleweight unification against his nemesis Mikkel Kessler. Redemption is complete, though given the brilliant match of their styles, we may even see a third fight. Over 12 coruscating rounds, with Froch almost stopping his opponent in the last, the Nottingham fighter added the World Boxing Association title to his International Boxing Federation crown with a unanimous points decision: 118-110, 116-112, 115-113.
  10. Number 3 may have applied, but we do not know at present. These are Cipolla's five fundamental laws of stupidity: 1.Always and inevitably each of us underestimates the number of stupid individuals in circulation. 2.The probability that a given person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic possessed by that person. 3.A person is stupid if they cause damage to another person or group of people without experiencing personal gain, or even worse causing damage to themselves in the process. 4.Non-stupid people always underestimate the harmful potential of stupid people; they

  18. I know you will all consider me a stupid old g*t but this photo found by chance by DavidW brought the most amazing and wonderful and pleasant memories flooding back! At the very spot where the car is was parked a brand new car (a ford of some type). It was owned by a man called Pegg who had lost his `pegs ' in the war and so must have been able in 1948 to be entitled to one. All of our `gang' collected around said motor as it was quite a rare thing in an area like the one in the photo. I turned up not to admire the car with my mates, but rather a glimpse of his very pretty daughter,(turned up n
  19. The fact that always amazes me is how young they all were! Guy Gibson a Wing Commander at 24 years! and having already completed 170 missions. AMAZING .!
  20. Is it just me or does the message seem odd on the memorial? It is for those who gave their lives SINCE 1945 ! Where then is the one for those PRIOR to 1945? Whilst here I will tell you of an incident in 1958 at Scampton in which a Vulcan was being towed to take-off location and without knowing it the nose wheel strut was fractured. The bomber took off minus said wheel. The captain ordered every one out (the rear crew who could not eject and had to jump.) He later managed to land said bomber minus wheel. Without gruesome detail this memorial would be apt !
  21. Tell you what Stephen ,,,hell of a lot of people would love to be sent to Australia at present. However I would like to report another horrendous crime from Nottingham today. A MAN has been fined £600 for dropping litter. Aaron Wilkinson of Bestwood Park was ordered to pay the fine plus £182.50 cost by Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.

  23. I received this minutes ago. Quite a wake-up call. Salute the Danish Flag - it's a Symbol of Western Freedom By Susan MacAllen In 1978-9 I was living and studying in Denmark. But in 1978 - even in Copenhagen, one didn't see Muslim immigrants. The Danish population embraced visitors, celebrated the exotic, went out of its way to protect each of its citizens. It was proud of its new brand of socialist liberalism one in development since the conservatives had lost power in 1929 - a system where no worker had to struggle to survive, where one ultimately could count upon the state as in, pe
  24. Carni, in February this year I visited El Alamein and the site of thousands of British (and other) dead ,and was the turning point in the 2nd W.W. My father (1Xth Lancers) and my wife`s father (R.A.) fought there. My father was away for 6 years . On returning the greedy capitalists realised that they had destroyed the cream of British youth and so started importing labour from all over the world. This mass immigration has continued so that anyone can come to be parasites on the hard won freedoms of those young men. I weep for our once Great Britain.
