  1. Welcome to the Site, Falang007. I enjoyed reading your post as I had been involved in the top end of non-league football for many years. I look forward to reading more of your posts.
  2. She may be gray, RGR but she certainly looks happy. Looking at the scenery I think most people would be happy if they were there.
  3. Yes, they were a bit scary, Compo but the stories were always great. Just the thing to watch before going to bed...lol
  4. Anybody remember 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents' in the late 50's early 60's?. He would come on and introduce the programme. The stories were full of drama and suspense and always had you on the edge of your seat.
  5. I agree, Stu. It's a great site and I'm looking forward to reading it all.
  6. Take Your Pick, with Michael Miles, was a popular programme in it's day and it was still funny when Des O'Connor did it through the 90's. Humour comes in many forms and so it should because people laugh at different things. Personally, I can't stand the modern comedian's who have to shout and yell every word at you. I could, on the other hand, listen to 'The Comedian's' show all day long. Can you imagine the late Bernard Manning being on TV today?.
  7. That's what you get for loafing about.
  8. I've just looked up 'Arnold Carpets' and they are near Pilkington St. off the Bulwell High Rd.
  9. They are very attractive buildings so maybe it's time they were demolished by the City Council.....lol
  10. Thanks, Thomas. You say that you have stories that will make our hair curl. Well, we are all interested in hearing what you have to say.. It may save some of us going to the hairdresser at the weekend...lol.
  11. babs, you'll know the people I was refering to who got hit by the lorry. It was Ray and Elaine.
  12. After reading the post by Thomas I'd like to say that the Mrs. Booth he mentions is not my wife or any relation of mine. I am mentioning it because I have already stated that I've fostered children in the past and beside's, Thomas is older than my wife and I. There is so much sadness and suffering in this world for children like Thomas through no fault of their own. I began fostering to bring a little love and happiness into their lives for the time they were at my home. There are always going to be bad apples and Thomas was unfortunate enough to find one but there are thousands of good apples
  13. A chap I know had a 3 wheeler and him and his wife were driving along the Ring Road when a lorry overtook them. They came together and the lorries wheel nuts cut holes all down the side of his motor. I tried not to but I laughed my head off as he was telling me about it.
  14. Like Gilly, I always have problems getting a photo onto the site. I use Photobucket, right click on the 'img' box and click 'copy', go to the reply box, right click to bring up 'paste', click on 'paste'...nothing, I get the full index. Other times I'll click on 'paste' and I'll get either a small box or a row of writing. I realise that there are lots of photos being put on the site so it must be me but I can't understand why.
  15. I'm sitting here looking at old forum posts on the Nottstalgia site coughing and sneezing. It's not all bad though because I'm listening to some great rockabilly music. Oh, I've eaten half an Easter egg as well. I was saving the other half until tomorrow but I doubt that it'll still be there in an hours time...lol
  16. Regarding Bobber's Mill Cafe, it's still the same as it always was. You can have a regular sandwich or a 'doorstep'. I popped in last week and it's still as popular as ever.
  17. 1001 cleans a big, big carpet, for less than half a crown.
  18. Chloras, wasn't that a bleach that you used to clean floor's?.
  19. I can remember watching Marianne Faithfull on TV as she sang 'As Tears Go By'. A beautiful lady and a beautiful song.
  20. Welcome to the site, Gilly. I had to smile when you stated that you were having problems getting your photos on. I also had problems and would have a row of posts that said 'error' as my attempts failed. In the end my youngest son sorted it for me. I've not been on the site for long so I'm still reading the hundreds of old posts. I'll catch up one day....lol
  21. It's true what you say, radfordred. Mind you, the swimming lesson's at Portland Baths used to help us smell better....lol
  22. Ok,Stu. I think I was clutching at straws when I read your post but thanks for your reply.
  23. That's so true, katyjay. It's people like Douglas Whitworth who feeds our interest in nostalgia and puts answers to our questions. OLDACE's post shows the passion Douglas Whitworth had for photography and Nottingham's history and we're all grateful for that.
