  1. Walked past Harold Larwood and Bill Voce in Kirkby this morning......couldnt bring mesen to tell em the score......just got a coffee from Subway and sat and drunk it down at 'Long Off''...........

The most consistently accurate bowler i ever saw was Brian Statham.(Lancashire).......every ball in line and a good length.....the perfect foil for the fiery wildness of Tyson and Trueman........ Another bowler i always enjoyed was Johnny Wardle.....a great spinner and another Yorkshireman.........i was Cricket mad from being about five....and could name all the England and Aussie players of the day........always thought Yorkshire started just beyond Bestwood village..hence my love for the county......lol

  4. How about this for a balanced bowling attack OZ ? Fast openers.......Tyson.....Statham... Leg spinner..........Tony Lock Off spinner...........Jim Laker With back up Medium Pacer all rounder Trevor Bailey..... That would get the Aussies worried......... Or even me Dad ..under arm Spinner beyond compare......lol.

Still miss driving home for xmas and listening to this........drove home from all over the UK.....But this year i'm waiting for my sons Flying home for Christmas.....one from Central Africa another from South America..one already back from Spain....my eldest will still be in Australia and i'll miss him........a very emotional time coming up........
  6. Yes it was a 'Freddie' number.......but when i saw this group in 'Shifnall' nr Shrewsbury' in Shropshire the Applejacks were mentioned in the intro.........the group wernt the Applejacks but at that time the 'A's were popular in that part of the country and have always stuck in my mind.......

Another 'Brummy'' group........brings back memories of staying in 'Shifnall'' nr Shrewsbury in 'Shropshire'' Doing a shop update to self service in the 60s.......and dancing in a Pub to this song.....still see the chap i worked with from Bestwood estate..hes my oldest friend...hes 80 now and looks 50...

  14. Picked the wife up from the railway station this morning.........after her Southern Jaunts..........just like Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson ...as we ran towards each other with arms stretched open...in slow motion.........caused a 'Giggle' on the platform...........
