  1. Thanks jonab. I went for the Wahl cordless or corded. I'll report how it performs. Of course I'm a baldy, but the back and sides become very irritating.
  2. Thanks for the responses. Looks like I'll be ordering a Wahl.
  3. Any recommendations for hair clippers? I've been using my Braun beard trimmers but it takes ages.
  4. Ouch Trog! Hope you feel ok soon. I have been in similar situation but never learn. I've been moving 12" thick slices of the yew tree today. They are about 70/80kg ea. Had to lever them up onto the wheelbarrow in stages and wrangle the wheelbarrow up steps. An accident waiting to happen but I was lucky. Then I brought 200 bricks and 12 concrete blocks down from the top of the garden and stacked them ready for the brickie. That should do for the footings. Called it a day when the rain started at 3.20.
  5. Dead right Brew. Even with two of everything I still can't find the bleddy things 07.40 this morning the builders merchant's lorry delivered a couple of big bags of ballast and sand and 6x cements. Planned to start putting footings in but the forecast looks bad Can't believe the price of bricks these days. Just average bricks are a quid each! Reclaims are even more. Anyone knocking an old house down? - I need about 1500...
  6. Same here Beekay. I loved that SeeBee but sold it when a mate who I shared a boat with went and sold it! He conveniently 'forgot' that I owned half of it.
  7. I felt like an old man this morning and uncharacteristicly reluctant to get out of bed. It is day 30 of the 31 day rowing challenge and yesterday I tried putting a bit of daylight between myself and nearest rival. Fatigue is setting in plus a bit of dehydration. Aching all over. Usually I do the first 12k row before breakfast, but decided to have breakfast and to rehydrate first today. Felt sluggish and stopped for a break at 35min. Restarted after 5min and felt much better and completed 14k before lunch. I should be rowing by the side of Loch Assynt this afternoon and hope to reach the final
  8. SG - I really feel for you. Us that really care about dogs will be sharing that familiar emptiness. It will subside but we never forget any of our lovely dogs. Pity I did not read your, or any any resulting posts, before my last one about rescue dogs.
  9. Nice to see Tony Robinson on Breakfast TV this morning with his lovely rescue dog. The dog was in a bad state when he took it on but the mutual rewards were there to be seen. As he says - rescue rather than buy. The pandemic has left a lot of dogs uncared for or abandoned, so if you are considering a dog there is no better time....... wuff!
  10. Just re read my post - correction - it is Struie Hill Viewpoint on the B9176 not Strule. I should pass by The Kyle of Sutherland and into Strath Oykell this afternoon. Wonderful area lots of memories here.
  11. Felt very sluggish on the rowing machine this morning however I was delighted to see where I had reached on my virtual journey to the Highlands. Look up Strule Hill Viewpoint B9176 on Google maps and street view. You will see the magnificent Dornoch Firth. Strule Hill is one of my favourite roads and I've always regretted not cycling on it.
  12. A good day today on the rowing machine leaving Inverness this morning and crossing the Cromarty Firth this afternoon. At a point now where I could continue up the A9 and row up to visit Compo or to turn left as originally planned heading for Bonar Bridge. 708km completed so far on my virtual trip to the Assynt region. Life is good
  13. There are rumblings that there will be a shortage of the Pfizer vaccine. Will we get a second jab at all? It would be helpful if there were some factual evidence about the effectiveness of a single jab. Just hoping that Politics is not supressing the science.
  14. Felt good this morning so stepped up the am rowing session to 15km. Should reach Inverness by teatime. Checked out the chickens water earlier. The ice was thin enough for them to peck through. Yesterday the drink bowl was solid so have to check every morning. Still getting 3 eggs per day from 5 hens Life is good.
  15. O' no you won't! It will be a delivery drone
  16. Just checked how far I have got on the 'Row to the Highlands' project. Should reach Pitlochry for teatime. The target has been extended from reaching Inverness this month, to reaching Loch Cam, where I go fishing. Thinking about the wonderful Highland fishing keeps me going
  17. Strange? I had a hernia done as a day case. In and out in 6 hours. Took my cycling magazine in thinking I could read it during the op but too drowsy. Stiches dissolved quite soon, then riding the indoor bike just over a week later. I was quite young then though having not tuned 70
  18. Mrs PP gets the jab on Thursday. The way I see it is that by cancelling my 2nd jab due on Wed, Mrs PP gets hers a few weeks earlier that first planned That has got to be the right decision. By the time our second jab is possible the virus will have probably mutated again, again and require a different vaccine?
  19. Our grandson next door has tested positive. Had his jab same day as me 18 days ago. He is an ambulance driver and has been shunting Covid patients about. In spite of protests by him and the union, the only ppe they were issued with is a face mask! No bleddy wonder he has tested positive! Fortunately he is not showing any symptoms so far and hopefully the jab may have made a difference. Another NHS worker out of action and holed up with his wife and two kids.
  20. There is a bright light outside - discovered that it's called the sun Did the usual 10k on the rower this morning. Another 20 planned for this afternoon while watching the snooker. Half way through the challenge to reach Inverness by the end of the month.
  21. Yes. The Park tunnel meet up was one of the most interesting ones. We started on Derby Rd and IAN gave us an interesting running commentary all the way around. Pity it rained.
