  1. Don't like Coke or Pepsi very much. The only fizzy pop I drink is Vimto. Takes me back to sitting outside a pub as a kid while my parents had a couple inside. (Usually The Wolds or Test Match in Bridgford). Have had a few Macdonalds but wouldn't go out of my way to get one.
  2. Hi Ben, Only residents allowed in and we have to self isolate for 14 days when we get back from visits across. A few key workers have been let in but they have to follow strict guidelines (5 specialist welders were jailed a couple of weeks ago after they went to the supermarket on arrival to get some beers!). Daily life is just the same for everyone else, pretty much the same as before covid, no restrictions apart from the return from holidays/visiting relatives. Must say nothing has changed for us. Maybe we would have had a short break to UK but it will wait. Look after yo
  3. Lovely day yesterday - Mrs WB's birthday. Steam train from Douglas to Port Erin. Lovely weather so fish and chips on Port Erin front then back on train for a beer (or two) on Douglas Quayside. We're not much into pubs but that just rounded the day off nicely.
  4. Unluckily the other team scored two.
  5. Doing more than okay over here, 100 days covid free... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-isle-of-man-53952024
  6. My next door neighbour died from contracting Covid. He was the second person to die on the Isle of Man from the virus. He was a taxi driver. His death certainly made the residents of our little Avenue become very conscientious as he was not very old, only in his sixties.

  8. I know it's not Nottingham but I thought I'd share our good news... No active cases on the Isle of Man at the moment. https://www.manxradio.com/news/isle-of-man-news/island-has-no-active-coronavirus-cases/
  9. Hi BK, the smaller wheel is Lady Evelyn... https://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WMVA7A_The_Lady_Evelyn_Waterwheel_Laxey_Isle_of_Man The steam railway goes from Douglas to Port Erin in the south (very popular for stag nights). Hope you enjoyed your time over here, we do get a lot of coach tours from all over the UK.
  10. Shhhh Ben, the cats home isn't there anymore. Dodie, Ramsey is pretty quiet at the best of times, but I went there last Friday and everywhere was sooo quiet. Took the dogs along Parliament Street and there was only a couple of other dog walkers out and about. Had the beach next to the pier all to ourselves.
  11. Ben, yeah, more expensive now but I'll still buy you and Jill coffee and Babychams if you ever make it over here!
  12. Ben, you wouldn't recognise the Sound cafe now. The atmospheric little cafe has been demolished and a new one built a little further from the edge. Not 'alf as nice now. https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g6649338-d1830220-i337399813-The_Sound_Cafe-Cregneash_Isle_of_Man.html
  13. I'm in Onchan, couple of miles away from Douglas. Still lovely down by the Calf, take the dogs down there quite a lot...
  14. Long may it stay like this Ben, love the peace and quiet. Mass tourism to here finished in the 1970's and only hoteliers would like it back! Mind you, I going to miss the excitement of TT fortnight this year.
  15. This is the latest from Isle of Man government... some restrictions are being relaxed but not social distancing. (The 16 deaths in the community are all from one private care home which has now been taken over by the Manx national health service). Confirmed cases 313 Hospital admissions 21 Total tests 3049 Concluded tests 3020 Awaiting results 29 Awai
