  8. Hindleys, Bradleys and Virgin -this shop housed all three record and tape sellers. Great for Deep Purple imports! Thraves was around here one time..and over the road was Lincoln Street - Johnathan James ..a watch repairer and a photo studio up a flight of ancient stairs.Spalls,Truform for cheap boots and Howitts.Dennis & Roberts are having a clean up, Glance back on this drizzly day and the Welbeck is in the haze..Walkers the Jewellers - next to The Lion.
  9. I don't recall the Kardomah being here..wasn't born yet. Now a sports emporium- The Pepper Mill cafe was on the same side..up an alley opposite Evans Ladieswear..trendy coffee and quiche.Colmans Yard is on the right.
  10. One of the most prized areas to have a shop today...the rent & rates are costly..part of the so called Council dubbed 'Golden Mile'. Clumber i Remember.A tied house, The Crystal Palace..next door to Thorntons Toffee Shop. A 'nip in ' pub..like the Corner Pin..or The Old Corner Pin..being right.served halfs only and anyone recall the stilton sandwiches they dished out? Burtons was on the corner..which in turn became a Top Man.

  13. Well said Woody..it was a shop i brought my Mum in with me..she appreciated the 'Mr.Grainger' approach..thus the purse was opened a little further. Also a tailoring service was arranged..but the name escapes me.

  15. What a feat of engineering..the Bulwell Viaduct was exciting when i moved there..even though disused.Never used the Lido much..preferred Marshalls or scrambling with a fag on.Spanning Hucknall Lane and Bestwood Rd.

Always thought of this as 'our' Piccadilly Circus...especially when the neons of Players Please on Watmoughs shop front..in addition to the Peach Tree sign also glowing at night.Something comforting about this photograph...The Evening Post building with yellow and blue Austins tearing about to deliver the Late Post. Watmoughs for ice cream suckers, a quarter of Lungeelers or a scoop of MerryMaids to take in the stalls.The orange zebra crossing globes blinked on & off..and the central reservation..like many others in the city- vibrant with colour.The Turf Tavern was a popular pub when
