A series of photographs documenting the County during WW2.Staff and nurses from Vale Brook Lodge and City Hospital fill sandbags..just off Hucknall rd.after war was declared.This poiceman takes the hand of a child who has been evacuated to Nottingham..pictured in 1940 at the bus station.Bombed out children arrive at Bingham Station to be billeted safely.

    From what i have read Rog..a higher plane dumped unused bombs over the channel..sadly Glenns plane was lower and got walloped..and perished. Divers visited it 2 years ago and discovered the sad truth.

    Found a snap at last!Reg's bike is propped up outside a great haunt of mine..especially of a Saturday..if i had 'owt left from Gee Dee..would pop in here for Double egg & Chips and heavily buttered wonderloaf and make fat butties ..so it melted and covered your fist! Decked out in primrose yellow and wooden brown stalls inside.1950's kitch sketches of windmills hung on the walls.Last time i was in here...i'd stepped off a Rosetta coach and had tea with our kid..as my Dad was moving us all to Bulwell. The Old Dutch.

    Boots Factory..London Rd.Taken from the corner of Cliff Road and Canal St. The small properties to the left of Boots gates were cleared for their own Fire Brigade buildings...A doss house existed for some time to the right of this picture...after a days work and overtime i often witnessed furious rows with drunks and diners from the neighbouring Medieval Banquet Hall.
