  1. Don't get on to me. Just passing on I was told back in 1989. I always ordered 'blackboard paint when ordering stock. Nobody ever queried my order. Wasn't even supposed to order black ink. Don't know who it could possibly be I would offend ?
  2. When I were a school caretaker, we were told we weren't allowed to say 'blackboards. We could have 'whiteboards, greenboards or " chalkboards". When asked what colour were chalkboards? Was told, "black, of course".
  3. Your a proper little tinker, aren't you Phil.
  4. Cheers Phil, very much appreciated.
  5. Can anyone give me any advice on the situation up your neck of the woods.? We are due to come up to Thoresby hall, the second week of December. We're not planning to go into the city or anything like that and will stay away from trams etc. I realise North Notts is nowhere near the city but we're trying to get the lie of the land etc. Thanks in advance to anybody who has any sound advice. B.
  6. Can't give her too much to do. It might interfere with her paper round.
  7. Not much use to us Ian, we have groundsmen come in once a fortnight. We personally don't have a garden. Did consider getting her a job at Gatwick Airport........Kickstarting Jumbo jets and bird scaring.
  8. Just thought you might like to know Catfan, 'er indoors absolutely loves her anniversary ironing board. Think next year I'll get her a new dolly tub and ponch.
  9. HSR, as I vaguely remember, the coin with the Wren on it was a farthing, (still in use when I were little). For our 55th anniversary, my dear sister in law sent us both special key rings. Attached were, an emerald, a 4 leafed clover and a silver sixpence dated 1965 on it, ( the year of our wedding). Still got some threepenny bits.
  10. Ian, not boasting but I now take 20 tablets a day. The hospital have upped my Atorvastatin from 10mg to 80mg. I've horse pills smaller. Rehab unit sent me a guidance book, which lifting it alone would give you a heart attack.
  11. You won a Teddy for Mrs.C. for you anniversary. For our 55th two days ago I've bought Mrs. Beekay a new ironing board. Being delivered tomorrow and she's no idea ! Who says romance is dead. Nowts too good for 'er indoors. All heart me. ( especially since me attack).
  12. Hi Phil, I have a couple of tablets (Android) one a 10" Acer using Android 5.1 and the other, a Samsung 8" running Android 9.1. That's all I can tell about them. I also have an Acer, Windows 10 pc that is used for photos printing etc. In reality, I only use my Doro phone for the occasional txt to folks I know don't have Internet access. Mostly use my little tablet for emails, shopping etc. Don't think I suffer Technophobia. Mind you, my missus would say I'd get withdrawal symptoms if I had no buttons to push. B.
  13. Well done Catfan, wish I were there to pat you on the back! (You ought to have sent a few texts first. )
  14. I've got a pal in Peterborough who did plumbing work. He once told me that quite a lot of call outs were to seized up bidet taps, because they were never used. A status symbol perhaps.
  15. I've still got a tin of Duraglit. Had it years and it can still shine up brass, copper and my wedding ring !
  16. There you go, my day pales into insignificance. I couldn't hope to compete with niceties of bog seats and puppy pee. My thunder has been stolen, by a toilet seat! How much further can I sink?
  17. Your right Jill, Reverend Catchpole took over from Reverend Porter, but I cannot remember what year. Then another vicar took over from him and this one was a young radical. He lost quite a few diehard members of the congregation due to his offbeat ideas. Not been up that way since about 1978.
  18. Thank you Nonna. Why should it spoil my day? Nothing would spoil my day when I've been with my wife! We've now been in isolation for 174 days, with the exception of my visit to hospital. Given a choice, we would have liked to go on the Bluebell steam railway for a meal, but they're still closed.
  19. It was my older brother Jill, but how did you know? Got married at St.Marthas, Broxtowe . Vicar was Reverend Porter.
  20. Thank you very much for those kind words Benjamin 1945. And all good wishes to you too. Thanks to all for your greetings. Took the wife to Skegness for our 25th and playfully buried her in the sand.....Better go back and dig her up.
  21. But you don't know which church I got married at?
  22. LL, are you going to get border guards and the occasional watch tower? Funny how things can run along swimmingly for years, then introduce a new element, ( new neighbour) to the equation and things go belly up. It's not nice and leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.
  23. On a lighter note. 'How is my day'. Well, today the pair of us are celebrating our Emerald wedding anniversary, 55years, and we're bloody stuck in, self isolating. Can somebody nip round and throw a brick through the vicars window.
  24. My understanding is that you are entitled to cut/ lop any overhanging growth from your neighbours garden, ie trees, shrubs etc. But you must offer the cuttings back to your neighbour.
