Little White Lies Or Whoppas?

Confession Time!

Were you all good little teenagers or did you ever tell little white lies or porky pies. I Did...and it was a Whoppa! When i was sweet sixteen, never bin.. kissed, kicked or Trod on, i met my hubbs to be at good old Skeg and he would come to Nottingham to see me, but there was no chance i would be allowed to go to a different area and stay over night, even though his parents were there. So, I told my parents i was staying at my friends, who kept the Arnold Labour Club and me and my sister skiddadled to town and caught the train to Birmingham. We spent two nights at W-ton, coming home on the Sunday, in time for tea."Hello Mum, whats for tea". Bless them, they never did find out! Sorry Mum.

Yes guilty of lies !!

My two friends and I were about 15 or16 and we wanted to be at Goose Fair when it finished at midnight on the Saturday but knew that our parents definitely wouldn't allow it. So I said I was staying at my friend's in Mapperley and they said they were staying at my house in Arnold. Seeing as nobody had a phone in those days we could get away with it. We'd arranged with another friend and her brother (who lived up Sherwood Rise I think) that we could stay at their house, they said it wasn't a problem at all. So on a misty murky very early hours of Sunday morning we turned up at this great big house with friend Dierdre and her brother. We sat chatting and suddenly their Dad appeared, just in his underpants, and yelled at us ......... "you chaps can clear awf, you're not staying here". He didn't see that we were girls, only saw the backs of our heads with short Mod hairstyles. Well off we went into the cold night, 3 little girls not knowing where the hell to go now as there was no way we could go home! We walked down Mansfield Road into town, I remember being amazed at the roadsweepers being out, not only sweeping the roads but washing them as well, I had no idea that sort of thing happened in the night! We three little innocents ended up sitting outside the Beachcomber by an extractor fan, keeping relatively warm from the warm air being blown out from the club. We hadn't got any money left as we'd spent it all at the Fair and we weren't old enough to get in the Beachcomber in any case. It was a long night and we were all glad when it got to about 9 o'clock next morning so we could go home.

I'm sure my sons have told me hundreds of lies when they were younger but I caught one of them out and have never let on to this day. It was 13 years ago and we'd gone away to South Africa on holiday so I made a point of requesting that our son stayed around to look after the dogs and house for the 2 week period. He said it was not a problem so I went away happy. Well it was Valentines Day while we were away and the lad decided that he was taking his girlfriend to Paris for the weekend and arranged for my cleaning lady to move in for 3 nights ....... and she could never keep anything to herself, lol. She told me as soon as I saw her again that she'd stayed in the house for a few days, but she didn't know where our son had gone during that time. After a little detective work in his bedroom I found the photos of his romantic jaunt, Eiffel Tower in the background, river trip on the Seine, etc. etc. I chose never to mention anything about it so as far as he is concerned I never knew. He didn't stay with that girl for long anyway!!

I can't tell nowt. I don't know if any of my family might lurk on Nottstalgia. They know I post on here and they know my Beagle in my icon so they could put two and two together and make 5. I mostly found that silence was the best answer then I didn't have to tell any porkies. My parents never asked much. Maybe they didn't want to know when I'd been dogging around. LOL.

Brings on a morbid thought. Maybe at least one should know my Log in and PW. If I ever croak you'd never know except that my posts would cease. Anybody else thought about that issue?

I only thought about the issue of passwords today Loppylugs. I was doing some internet banking and my husband was looking over my shoulder and I told him he ought to know all the info to get around the bank site. He really doesn't want to be bothered about it but it would be a good idea to write stuff like that down in case we both croak. Ya never know what's around the corner noblue

Unfortunately there have been some on this site who have passed on and we have only learned of it weeks or months later. I guess Mick would know the numbers.

I have made a list in WORD for my wife of LI's and PWs but I wonder if she would remember it. Can't remember if NS is in it now. Oh the joys of aging!

Yes Loppy.

Rob 237 was one, we found out later. We have lost members that we know about.

Nick Palmers relatives came on and told us.

I do tend to worry about people who are prolific posters then just stop, never to return.

I can think of one but cant for the life of me remember his name? A guy in his 70s was it Danny333 or something?

I even worry about De Da Pete and sent him an email the other day, yet to get a reply.

TJSW passed away about three years back now, Trev Shaw and I went back to Clifton Colliery, his Uncle and Dad were electricians at Clifton and one of his younger Brothers was a younger apprentice on the electrical staff.

I gave Trev's Daughter the URL of this site, I don't know whether she joined or not.
