The triangle on the right is Wilkinson Street where it joins the ring road; the church in the top centre is St Leodegarius at Basford; the road on the left is Basford Road with the Newcastle Arms on the corner; and the circular road in the centre is Bracknell Crescent. nnsc 131
Is this from the 1930's as the Whitemoor estate appears to be new? Great picture by the way.
Cliff Ton 10,467
According to Britain from Above, it's 1933.
Ayupmeducks 1,730
During my researches of that pit, it appears a children's park was built over where the shafts used to be, scary, reading about how many shafts have "slumped" over the last few years.
NewBasfordlad 3,599
The back end of Melbourne Park is close but the area seems to be housing now.
poohbear 1,360
The extreme right hand bottom corner of the picture has the mineral railway running into it...the kids playground was there right in that corner of what was to become Melbourne Park ...it was a triangular shape just off that picture with the railway embankment running along the back...A set of swings a roundabout and one of these....
