mick2me 3,033
Dead opposite is a small road (Name?) still there. Upstairs on the right was tha ABC clothes warehouse. Mum would take me there, and you could look down to the tunnel where you could briefly see stam trains enter and leave Vic Station.
bamber 128
Clinton Street (East and West). Do you remember Leyland Paints and on the corner London Scientific Exchange?.
mick2me 3,033
Yes London Scientific exchange, I still got a pair of bins from there. There was also a Scientific Exchange type store off Bentick Road, Palin St?
bamber 128
LSE used to sell those amazing Russian transistor radios with more wavebands than you could shake a stick at. They must have issued them to their spies for receiving messages from the Kremlin. I'm pretty sure LSE moved to Palin Street in the early 1980s.
mick2me 3,033
N0, there was an electronics shop on both sides of Palin Street in the 60's. I am sure it had a name like Scientific Exchange? There was also the Valve Shop on Radford Road (might still be there?)
denshaw 2,872
Yes Mick the valve shop is still there. Excellent value for electrical, car spares and key cutting.

Trafalger 1
Nottingham Scientific Exchange was on Peveril Street off Alfreton Road. Had a shop on each side of the road. One specialised in electrical bits and bobs (both the common and the unusual) the other in tools of all types. The owner, whose name I cannot recall, also had many flats in various parts of the City. Had one for about a year on Lucknow Drive, Mapperley Park in 1965. (met my wife at a party we had there)
mick2me 3,033
I spent lots of time peering in those windows as a lad
