Fynger 841
Looking on Google Street map we just just worked it out...its the building next door to the 'hop pole'....and its now empty. ( was Triton Bathrooms )... Just done lots of re-looking ( counting windows etc ) and yep it fits cos you can work out the greyhound and durham ox too.......but if you go and look on street view and stand outside the hop pole looking toward beeston you can get the pic to fit there too.....odd eh. Fynger 841
He parked his bike on the wrong side...cycle lanes over the road
littlebro 234
And someone's nicked the bike! It does look untidy with the proliferation of signs, both street signs and adverts. Glad the council has swept the street since the first photo. !rotfl!
Fynger 841
And that old square camera on the old pic must be worth a fortune now. ( replaced by a modern dome )

Useless information I'd forgotten I know......... there aren't any Streets in West Bridgford, they are all Avenues, or Drives, or Crescents or Roads

denshaw 2,880
I just checked and Springfield street is listed. One to Littlebro.
Cliff Ton 10,569
I just checked and Springfield street is listed. One to Littlebro. So I've learned something new today, because I've driven past that road/street quite often and never noticed it even had a name. I thought it was just the entrance to that small block of apartments. And now I've looked at it on Google maps it goes back a long way too.......
littlebro 234
Who is this guy and why was he famous just 100 years ago?
Beefsteak 305
Is it aviation pioneer and motor car manufacturer Charles Rolls?? And he was killed 100 years ago
rob237 89
Louis Bleriot...first cross-channel flight? Cheers Robt P.
littlebro 234
Hi both, 2 really good answers but not correct. It is not Charles Rolls, It is not Bleriot, he crossed the channel in 1909. The guy in the picture hit the news in 1910.
littlebro 234
Seems a clue is needed, He went one stage further than Bleriot
Beefsteak 305
I don't think it's Charles Lindberg, if it is i can't think of anything he could have done 100 years ago as he wasn't born till 1902
