Nottingham - Sutton Bonington

Recommended Posts

Hi, firstly, I wasn't really sure where to find the information I need, but I found this forum and I really hope you can help me. Please excuse me if this isn't the appropriate place to ask such questions.

I have been recently invited to a visit day at the University of Nottingham, but since I had never been to Nottingham before I am a little confused.

It says in the invitation that the opening will take place at the Sutton Bonington Campus, which I believe is located in the Sutton Bonington village. (By the way, is this a village, or just a part of the Nottingham city?)

So if I book a room in the hotel in the centre of the city, what is the easiest way to get to Sutton Bonington? I've read there is a shuttle from the University Park Campus straight to the Sutton Bonington one, however, it would be really nice if I knew more than 1 way of getting there, just to be sure. (Oh yes, and how much does the shuttle trip cost?)

Also, please correct me if I'm wrong, I believe I can travel to the University Park from the city centre by the Unilink 34 bus, can't I? If so, how much does the trip cost?

And last but not least, how much time does it take to get to Sutton Bonington from the city centre?

Please forgive my english if I wrote something wrong, this is my second language.

And once again, please excuse me if this is the wrong place to seek such answers. (However, if it is, it would be really nice if you could give me some forum, where I could find the desired information.)

P.S. If you can recommend some 3-star hotel not far from the bus stops I will perhaps need to travel to Sutton Bonington, I would really appreciate that.

Cheers

Ilja

Welcome Ilja

There are a few things to consider.

Sutton Bonnington is a very nice village, far south of Nottingham.

Its quite a treck from Nottingham.

Travelwise you would be better with a Bed & Breakfast in the village.

I am sure there will be very good pubs in the area, but for socialising,

Nottingham City is the place.

A good place to be would be the Clifton area,

That would give you good access to SB plus the city

Anyone else any knowledge of local transport or hotels etc?

Hi

Sutton Bonnington is between Zouch and Rempston on the Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire border, nowhere near the city, not sure about shuttle travel but there may well be one from the Clifton campus (about 10Km from the city) which would put you on the right side of the river, the only bus company I know of that could get you there from Nottingham would be the South Notts bus company (if they are still in business) sorry can't be of further help but I'm sure there is someone on here who could help

Cheers

Clifton Campus is Nottingham Trent Uni, not Nottingham Uni.

I initially made the same mistake, shame cos one of our members is staff @ NTU.
