poohbear 1,360
Still a big number of "Guests", but not an increase in the number of posts, or new members. Let's face it,the subjects on here are pretty restricted. With many just being nostalgic looks into childhood memories. There can't be a lot of interest to the passing visitor.Historic threads on Nottingham in general are quite thin on the ground. jackson 301
Michael, thank you so much for your congratulations. May I say that I always enjoy reading your posts and viewing your photographs - the image of 'Mighty Fine' and the fun we had over that remains in my memory. I must say that I've had many laughs since joining 'Nottstalgia'. I Love Laughing

mick2me 3,033
Facebook? Dunno, but the stats we can see, you would be surprised who reads and where in the world they are from.
Cliff Ton 10,505
The permanent "Facebook" thing on Users reading this topic seems to have disappeared. And the number of views on a thread has dropped accordingly. Does that mean we don't have as many viewers just passing through?
Beefsteak 305
Facebook was more than likely there after you started up the FB group !!
littlebro 234
Conspiracy theory ~ Perhaps Facebook needed readership stats for their flotation, now it 'floated' it is not so important?
Ayupmeducks 1,730
Facebook "Bots" check the site automatically for material not within their keeping, like porno and abuse. If it finds objectionable material it blocks our URL, then if you post that URL on FB, it deletes it automatically. You will also find a lot of "Guests" are not people, but search engine" Bots and Spyder's" like Yahoo, Google etc looking for "keywords" for their search engines. Hope that helps. mick2me 3,033
Your probably right about a Facebot John. There have been some links to us pasted via FB
Trevor S 2,003
Mick2me, Slight issue lately with the Nottstalgia forum inasmuch that a random word or two throughout the various posts are showing in blue with two underlines. Not only does the random picks carry through the posts on any thread but, words in members post profile is also getting the treatment. Put the cursor on the highlighted word and you will get a small viewing pane with the legend 'EasyinLine', a reference to running a search for the subject word or suggesting a a link to other sites. For example, In 'school or sunday school days out'....Pixie....#3....highlighted words 'School Trips' invites a search for school trips through MegaSearch biz Search Engine. Beefsteaks post #4 on the same topic has 'Sunday School' highlighted and an invite to visit a gambling site with $100-00 worth of gambling chips through SuperVideoslots.com. Anybody else getting this or, is it just my computer that has been invaded?
Cliff Ton 10,505
Anybody else getting this or, is it just my computer that has been invaded? Slightly different in that I'm on a Mac, but I'm not seeing any such gremlins on that thread or any other.
Trevor S 2,003
Thanks Cliff Ton, Thought it might be those search bots that Mick was talking about. If not, I might have to debug. Incidentally, how long in Gamston....had links to the old Gamston Kennels that existed back in the days when Gamston Bridge was a nasty little hump back bridge that caught many drivers unawares, particularly city bound. Quite a few taught their cars to fly and landed off road!

Quite a few taught their cars to fly and landed off road! I assume you've looked at Streetview to see what Gamston looks like these days. When you were in the area it must've been just a small village near West Bridgford; many parts of that village still exist but it has all been engulfed by a large modern estate built in the late 80s/early 90s. The canal bridge you mentioned still exists but these days it is half of a dual carriageway; I don't remember the area when it was a single lane road, and I think I know (but not certain) where the kennels were.

mick2me 3,033
Download some of the free apps to clean your system. Be carful you dont get one that checks your system finds (invented) problems and you have to pay for full version to get them removed
