  1. Been off this site for a while, mainly because I'm involved in other (FB) groups, mainly concerning Nottingham, Mods & Music.............Hope all of those I know/knew on here are well.

Fishing trips to Brid' organised by Bestwood Miners Welfare, crates of ale on board for trip up, on to a boat where we stood shoulder to shoulder around the boat with rods like brush handles & big wooden reels, but did catch some cod!! always someone hanging over the side 'ground bating' with ale & sarnies...........ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH.............skipper would gut the catch on the way back in to Brid', & throw 'em up for gulls, occasionally a gull would miss & you'd get a faceful of guts..........ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH, again!!, off the boat into the pub then another crate or two b

  5. # 36, Cliff Ton, this picture got posted on the MODS Facebook site, closed group for ex- Dungeon Club regulars. Brought much comment......mine was regarding the proximity to Stanford Street (home of The Club) & Sawyers Arms which separated two the 2 halves of Woollies, had my first drink in Sawyers.....
  6. Here's some of mine, learnt from my dad & others in the 60's & 70's; Always leave the car in gear when parked.....Dad; In case yer bl**dy handbrake cable snaps!! Always point front wheels toewards the kerb........Ditto Change gear in sequence, both up & down through the box when approaching a roundabout/junction etc Drive with both mitts on the wheel (steering).................never polish the steering wheel Your comments views etc are all welcome + any other habits you may have (driving only)..........

  8. Thanks Lizzie & Plantfit, but I'm not intending to be out with Etta until all the bodyworks/respray etc completed (end of summer).............I won't have a mirror as its distracting doing my makeup whilst riding.....................

Trying to recapture my Mod days of mid sixties, & now retired, I 've just purchased a 1964 Li 150 import from Italy got my new number & all is good to go with my renovation of this lovely icon of my yoof!!..........................Just one ( or perhaps more)snag(s), Never ridden 2 wheeled contraption before, always rode pillion to Skeg', Mabo' & Matlock etc Now find I can't ride it on 'L's' as it's above 125cc....................... Wish me luck please.......................it does have full engine rebuild + 12 months MOT, I'm only renovating the bodywork to origina

  12. LizzieM, quite right!! It's possible on FB to have a 'Nottstalgia Spinoff' group that's not public, Ann B. did it with the MODS site, only going public after a while, it would require no Costs/Admin'/Moderators it polices itself.................if we dint like owt we'd just boo n' hiss!!

  14. I was a Becket boy from 62 to 66, also became a choirboy at St Barnabas Cathedral, Mr Smedley was the Choirmaster. Our art teacher was Mr Chamberlain, & our feared PE teacher (torturer) was Mr Cullen, he'd kick a football very hard at your thighs (ouch!!) if you weren't playing well!!
