    Day Trips

Fishing trips to Brid' organised by Bestwood Miners Welfare, crates of ale on board for trip up, on to a boat where we stood shoulder to shoulder around the boat with rods like brush handles & big wooden reels, but did catch some cod!! always someone hanging over the side 'ground bating' with ale & sarnies...........ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH.............skipper would gut the catch on the way back in to Brid', & throw 'em up for gulls, occasionally a gull would miss & you'd get a faceful of guts..........ROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH, again!!, off the boat into the pub then another crate or two bought for refreshments on the way back, dropped off at Top House for a lock in!! Them were the days!!

    Driving habits

Here's some of mine, learnt from my dad & others in the 60's & 70's; Always leave the car in gear when parked.....Dad; In case yer bl**dy handbrake cable snaps!! Always point front wheels toewards the kerb........Ditto Change gear in sequence, both up & down through the box when approaching a roundabout/junction etc Drive with both mitts on the wheel (steering).................never polish the steering wheel Your comments views etc are all welcome + any other habits you may have (driving only)..........

    Where is everyone!!!!

LizzieM, quite right!! It's possible on FB to have a 'Nottstalgia Spinoff' group that's not public, Ann B. did it with the MODS site, only going public after a while, it would require no Costs/Admin'/Moderators it polices itself.................if we dint like owt we'd just boo n' hiss!!
  14. Amo, Amas, Amat, Amamus, Amatis, Amant..................loved it
  15. I was a Becket boy from 62 to 66, also became a choirboy at St Barnabas Cathedral, Mr Smedley was the Choirmaster. Our art teacher was Mr Chamberlain, & our feared PE teacher (torturer) was Mr Cullen, he'd kick a football very hard at your thighs (ouch!!) if you weren't playing well!!
