Whoops. Forgot it was Saturday. Got nabbed by the Jehovah's Witnesses this morning. I listened politely to their script then gave them a lecture on Buddhist philosophy. As expected, their eyes glazed over as the brainwashing kicked in. Don't listen, don't listen!!! Basically, said I, you're looking at God right now and so am I. If you look at the cat in the window, you're still looking at God and that earthworm on the path is also God. We are all the same. No difference. They scuttled off to bother someone else. One day, they might wake up? Bothering people on a Saturday morning gives them something to do, I suppose... otherwise they might start robbing banks (but not blood banks, of course).
Hahaha you didn't get your copy of the watch tower then Jill??????

To me the so-called holy bible is merely a collection of myths and contributions from those who included their own particular thoughts and interpretations many years or centuries after the particular event as the truth, of which was merely of significant interest to them.
For example, feeding the five thousand with a few fish and loaves of bread went way beyond sensible comprehension.
With all the other impossible miracles that have supposedly happened should these stories be taken as what actually happened or just the dreaming of a few of the excessively uncompromising?
God's ways are beyond our understanding, please do not mock the Lord's work .

Got up this morning to a heavy frost so decided to take Jj to a different park than usual today. The one we usually go to has a fenced in, what used to be, tennis court so I go on there to throw his ball. Once the gate is shut I don’t have to worry about any loose dogs being on my own and can concentrate on the game but thought it might be a bit slippy for him to run on.
As usual had to chase him all over the house to get his coat on, once it is on he stands still and looks sorry for himself so it is easier to put the harness on. Got myself wrapped up, had my thermals on, and off we went.
The frost was quite thick in some places, almost like snow, and he got a bit giddy when we were walking on that. Got to the park and we were the only ones on there, it looked absolutely magical with the frost on the trees etc. Had a good game of running after the ball (Jj not me), plenty of snuffling in the leaves under the trees (Jj again) and generally having a good time. By now my fingers were starting to go dead so we walked back home.Got back, both had breakfast and are now both snuggled on settee under my heated throw (thanks Octopus). He’s napping, I am reading a book.
Life can be good.Nice story , especially snuggled under the throw after a cold and frosty walk , enjoy !!!

Remember them tells that you had to put 50 pence in a slot at the back in the 70,s ?
I can remember one Sunday evening we were watching a film called hell drivers , and half way through the film the 50 pence had run out and the telly cooked out , our dad ses " right kids , off to bed , we haven't got any money for the telly"
Never did see the ending to the film until years later.
Does anyone remember the T.V with the slot at the back ?
Or the film , I think Sean Connery was one of the hell drivers , or was it Stanley baker ,not sure , but maybe some folks on here remember the film and who starred in it.

It's interesting to see the stretch from Cranmer Street down to Mansfield Road because I never knew it when there were houses and shops along both sides. I've only known it as it looks now......a bit of a mess.
My grandmother live on Marple street , you'd go down some step from Cramner street .

Had a disturbing moment today. Bus overturned in Somerset and my granddaughter and her fiance were on it. They are ok though - just shaken and bruised. Just when everything seems to be going smoothly this sort of thing can happen.
Hope all is well PP, what a scary incident that must of been , was it a double bus ?

He's generated a lot of publicity about the book whether it was intentional or not, and people are talking about it and buying it, so maybe he's not that dumb.
On the basis that there's no such thing as bad publicity, he's on to a winner. Presumably he needs the money.
This has appeared in various places on the internet; it's a bookshop window display in Swindon with two books side-by-side.
That is aptly place next to how to kill your family isn't it ?

@HSR thank you , remember playing marbles in the 60,s in the old st anns well area , an hole in the concrete we used , also remember playing cards which were held up against the wall and you'd skim cards at them , some of the cards used were Man from U.N.C.L.E , Batman and Robin, world War 2 collection which you'd buy in the shop , I think you'd get two or three cards and a stick of chewing gum that tastes like swarfega !!
And the trouser we wore in the 70,s were Oxford bags .
@Beekay I remember conkers as oners and twoers, which we'd collect along st anns well road on the way to morley school , anyone attend morley infants, and juniors?

Remember riding my Raleigh chopper bike with a tartan jacket with sheepskin lining , those were the days , my brother had a racing bike , I borrowed it to nip down the shop , and couldn't negate the corner from Grindon crescent, into Martin Avenue bulwell , I managed to buckle the front wheel and was sent flying over someone's garden fence , landing in a thorny rose bush , my brother was still paying for the racer on me sisters Littlewoods catologue!!!

We’ve not had a problem with egg supply, usually the blue shelled eggs have very yellow yolks (as all eggs were back in the day). I have converted to Burford Brown eggs which also have very yellow yolks. We used to get eggs from our neighbour on the allotment but sadly his chickens were savaged by a fox a couple of weeks ago.
Ooh that fox is savage !
