  1. I do remember seeing Mike Nesmith, Focus and Nazerath at the Poly; I don't recall having problems getting tickets but maybe I was just lucky.
  2. I think it was used for taking images / data from Meteosat.
  3. You might be interested in this one as well, http://www.kiddierecords.com/ You can either stream the audio or download but it contains lots of those stories we used to listen to on either the radio or at school on old 78's.
  4. A few more that spring to mind - Penetration, Hatfield and the North, Eddie & The hot Rods, Amazing Blondel.
  5. The Portland Building - spent many a Saturday Night there. Anybody remember Elkie Brooks and Vinegar Joe falling through the stage? Remember going to see Suzi Quatro down there and somehow getting locked out on one of the balconies - long story. We had to knock on the window and as the band were in full flight, nobody heard us for ages. Eventually, of all people, the drummer did and he opened the door for us. The memories. Trying to think of some of the bands that appeared there - Procul Harum, Wings, Trapeze, and Gong are the first that spring to mind.
  6. Craig, as you've mention Swinging Radio England you might be interested in this, http://www.nowthatsradio.co.uk/ If you click on the listen again bit, you can download the various shows that were done this year - not sure if you'll recognise any of the jocks but you might remember the jingles.
  7. Thanks, I'd forgotten about the other thread.
  8. I could have sworn this thread was longer, have we lost some posts?
  9. Dave Turner, Nottingham folk musician and entertainer has passed away. http://www.thisisnottingham.co.uk/entertai...il/article.html I know he's been mentioned on these forums a number of times, a great performer who I was lucky enough to see on a number of occasions. He'll be missed.
  10. Used to walk along North Gate on the way to Claremont when it was on Berridge Road, used to have friends that lived near the Nottingham Road junction plus some that lived in the flat above the old Post Office. Used to occasionally go in the Star for a beer. I actually almost bought one of those newish houses that were built opposite the two pubs but pulled out when I realised how small they were going to be.
  11. Still worth visiting the Lace Market - the old County Tavern is still there but under a different name. Thinky of other pubs that might be worth a visit, the Dragon is still there, as is the Royal Children.
  12. Checking the Trend site, it seems you have to remove it in safe mode otherwise it keeps re-activating. There are lots of variants of Startpage - http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyc...p;alt=startpage Clicking on each link provides you with the solution, I'm assuming you didn't try housecall. Another tool that might help is Stinger which is basically a quick program you can run to zap the most common problems. http://vil.nai.com/VIL/stinger/
  13. Don't remember the band but the pub was probably the Imperial
  14. You could also try running Housecall - it's on of the best on-line anti-virus scanners around, can take a little while to run, http://housecall.trendmicro.com/uk/
  15. Could also have been Manning, that was a girls grammar school.
  16. He might just be on holiday.
  17. Went down and there were some great bikes there and a few cars - never realised Brough did cars. I've put a few photo's on my Flickr site, http://www.flickr.com/photos/petezab/
  18. There's still some small and independent garages in Sherwood - Thinking of Coys and another one on Victoria Street. There used to be one on Hucknall Road but that closed down recently.
  19. Not sure but I think Commerce Square might be, plus the path that leads off it (Malin Hill?).
  20. The Google map link for Clumber Avenue is here, http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=clumber%20...sa=N&tab=wl The pub that you mention could either be The Regent, it's still there but now called Bensons, or the Peacock which was around the corner on Mansfield Road.
  21. Too true, if only he had stuck to the Rock'n'Roll roots; never really cared for his later material.
  22. Might take the camera down, I've always liked these bikes.
  23. I bumped into Pete and Pat in town this lunchtime, hadn't seen them for years and both are retired and looking extremely well. Spent some time talking about the BT regulars that used to go in there.
  24. Did it become the Kong Nam - if it was, I've been there but only in it's Chinese manifestation and normally after several pints on a Saturday night!
