  1. Well done and I hope that you can manage to spurn the advances of the temptress weed, I was seriously considering giving it up myself about 18 months ago after I'd had a pretty big op on a brain tumour, but when this goverment decided when and where I could spark up I was even more determined not to ! I'll do it when I'm ready and not when I'm ordered to by a dictator ! Best of luck in your endeavor .
  2. Condolences to Ann's family, may you have the strength to bare your great loss, Deepest sympathy from Maggie x
  3. My friend Billy had a ten foot willy, He showed it to the woman next door, She thought it was a snake, so hit it with a rake, And now his willy's no more
  4. Biscuit tins, why, when I try to put the lid back on is it always the wrong way round, they might appear to be square, but they're not
  5. Wondered why it closed so soon after opening
  6. Looks like I'll have to blow the dust of the breadmaking machine that's been lying dormant in the cupboard earmarked for 'must have' gadgets, by the way, the little bags of ready mixed bread work well in these machines, takes all the guess work out of measuring ingredients
  7. He was a bit of a Grump, don't know why, he was making enough money out of it !
  8. Donkey's years since we went in, was a wedding do I think ? We don't go out now, especially locally, too damn dangerous, we went out for a couple of Guinness Christmas lunch, down to the Moon and Stars for a bit of a family get together, the place was half empty, the last time we went there for no reason at all my hubby ( then 65 ) was slapped about a bit and my son ( who suffers with epilepsy) was beaten senseless for going to his Dad's defence, this so called gang of tough guys thought they ruled Bulwell, arseholes the lot of em, it put paid to our usual quiet Sunday night drink, we wait 't
  9. Bull and Butcher in Bulwell, now razed to the ground, The Lord Nelson, Bulwell, closed and set on fire twice, Scots Greys, closed, opened, closed, renamed and opened, now boarded up and closed again, And plenty of others are up for sale or new lease, the once thriving pub network is on it's way out in Bulwell, there has been a rumour for a long time now that a Witherspoons is to open where the old Wilkos was, can't see it happening though
  10. Will try and find the photos on the forum, the old school is still there, one of my favorite classrooms was what we used as the Art room, right at the top, you could see the Forest from there which I loved when Goose Fair was on Can anyone remember the little corner shop just outside the gates, Gilberts ? You could call in before school and order a cob for dinner, Mrs Gilbert used to write your order on the little white bag that your cob went in, along the floor of the shop was a row of sweet jars that you'd pass to them to weigh out for you, you'd then replace the jar for them, 2oz of choc
  11. Us gels were on a night out at Blotts, we all worked at a factory and one was leaving to have a baby ( any excuse for a night out ) Anyroad, Liz Dawn was the star act, she was having a warm up drinky in a side bar as me and my mate walked by after going to the loo, now then, my mate had the biggest pair of knockers and as we walked by a voice called out " F***ing 'ell, are they real ! " and she shouted us over to have a drink with her, 2 or 3 drinks later she had to go on stage, she never left us alone all night, what a laff she was, very good singer too, we all got rat arsed and she danced t
  12. Can anyone remember when a fair used to come to Bulwell Bogs ? can remember it being there in the early 80s .
  13. Probably a bit off topic, but I'll tell you anyway, we had a dog many years ago called Reggie, named after Reg Presley, not our idea, but that of the previous owner, good dog he was, lived to a ripe old age, Labrador / Greyhound cross, the coalman hated him, he used to rattle the back gate and shout " Is that bloody dog locked up ! " funnily enough he was the only person that Reggie hated, he loved the dustbin men and used to go on the round with 'em
  14. I went to Crane, infants and juniors, left in 1966 to go to Forest Fields which was then on Berridge Road before we moved to Carlton Hill, where a new school had been built adjacent to Manvers school, twas a bit of a journey from Aspley, bus to Woolaton Street then one to Carlton, I can remember one bad winter when all the buses had stopped and I had to walk all the way home, got a rollicking off mi Mother 'cos I was late
