  1. Whilst in the area, a similar place at which I spent many a happy evening was the Grange farm at Bilborough. It had everything,youth clubs,dances,sports,etc.,-but like every green spot in England,they are being covered in concrete and bitumen. Anyone remember the Grange?

  4. If it is the pilot making the ultimate gesture about the state of Malaysian democracy I understand,-but how did he overcome the co-pilot,-unless he was in cahoots. Only other thought would be a 3rd party,but for what reason if they are all lost.

  10. I have a mate who until he retired recently,was the Prime Minister`s doctor and traveled with him/her. His name ? Dr. Killer !!! Back from 2 months on Q.M.2 CANNOT recommend it ! Steel coffin comes to mind! It must have been horrendous for the convicts and the 10 pound poms.
  11. On the way to catch the Titanic (Oops) QM 2 when I noticed the garden dedicated to Millvina Dean (last survivor of Titanic-aged almost 100 !) She was 2/12 old when Titanic left. Man in the next room at Hotel won`t be going had a heart attack ! Still we have lots of gin.

  13. New facts every day! I was just standing at the Mayflower memorial in Southampton,and noted the story of the people of Blayby (then in Notts-now Leics) who would have been with the Mayflower had it not developed a major leak en route to America. Quite an interesting a/c.
  14. For my New Year Holiday,I am going to experience the horrors of being a 10 pound tourist from the 50`s and 60`s by making the 7 week journey from Southampton to Sydney on the 10th January. Just imagine the awful conditions I will suffer . Champagne and oysters every night,beautiful women,and ....the rest I will leave to your imagination.....All attempts to imagine will be scrutinised and the winner can carry my bags onto the Q.M.2 !

  16. A visitor from Nottingham was telling me about her `friend ' who worked 6 months (aged 16) in the UK before emigrating to USA. She discovered that by paying a few back stamps,she gets an old age pension for life! There are people from all over the world drawing pensions of various types after brief qualifying periods. No wonder UK is broke.
