    The Globe Cinema

At the Saturday morning rush at the Globe (6d entrance? - 1960) Hoppalong Cassidy films were popular. Which were your favourites? I think mine was the corny Batman! I recall the booing of the baddies and cheering of the goodies. The Orange Maid suckers, the Midland Counties ice cream and Fry's Five Boys chocolate bars amongst others. Ah...
  3. Still a bit frustratin' with, refreshing, reloading, Oops! Something went wrong! etc. The formatting options do not appear when doing a post. I'm glad I do not have to tackle these problems - all beyond me! Good luck to mick2me.
  4. How will this affect Nottstalgia please?
  5. I didn't see any article on this - just read the poster in the window as I hobbled past. But as you say, even if split, the cost of rent, wages, insurance, rates, remodelling the shop etc, sounds too excessive to make a profit surely? I don't know how all the food outlets make it pay, they are so many of them competing nowadays - I don't even know how folk can afford to buy a fancy coffee after reading the prices. I digress, sorry. Cheers
  6. I think the Poundland in Broadmarsh will soon be closing as it changes/modernises as an entertainment based mall as opposed to retail. I noticed on the windows of the old Virgin store - a rent of £322,000 per annum was required. Blimey!
  7. Blow, bother, and bloomin' 'eck. I've just took a few to the Age UK charity shop. Tsk!
  8. I've just checked me yoghourt Sir - BB 3 Dec. Okat ta.
  9. Me too. Can't get to format either. Hey-ho.
  10. Me extremities Me extremities! I blame it on me medications. (And age of course)
  11. I do me washin' at the launderette, on 'Warm' setting normally. Is that all right do you think? Did it on hot once by mistake - my chair blanket thingie is now about the size of a tea towel, and wrinkled. A bit like me really. Hehe!
  12. I went into Lidl yesterday - and I was not overcharged, sneered at - and the bloke on the checkout was patient as I struggled to get me cash to pay him with. Nice change that. TTFN

    summut nice

I know, I know... there is no hope for me... none... I'll put the kettle on!
  14. I was going to buy and read Tony Blair's... But I decided not to waste me money on science fiction!
  15. I agree Sir - He is such an unassuming chap too! Loved his role as the granddad in Dr Who too! And his role in Carry on Columbus - Brilliant! Cheers all.
  16. By gum I do remember them soldiers. I suppose I've killed off many German, French and Russian armies in the past. Hehe!
  17. The Hotspur was my favourite comic - took a while to get used to picture version when it changed from the written tales though. I loved making (usually a mess) up the Air-Fix kits, planes, battleships etc.
  18. His Gossip Calypso hit was perhaps me favourite comedy song! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKNYOh8iK6g Wouldn't be allowed nowadays - political incorrect!
  19. Your right, it was a great place to eat. Spike was appearing somewhere in Nottingham at the time. He was on his own and a bit tipsy - but so was I at the time (a bit tipsy). A brilliant character and genuine chap I thought. Cheers.
  20. I wur luki there - Dad woking at British Rail This meant we got so many free train passes, and then PT's (No idea what PT stood for, but we got several trips at 2/3rds off the price each year. I recall Dad getting a Vauxhall 14 series car, and that had the strongest welcoming smell of all the cars he had. But I recall he was not happy with low MPG - blimey, how much was petrol in 1958? Wait till I join him, and tell him how much it costs today - he'll probably clip me one round the ear and tell me stop lying! Hehe. Cheers
