  1. That would be a No 41 There is for those of you who dont know there is a very good book on NCT trolley buses by David R H Bowler it's a bit pricey at £30 Can still be bought at Book Law publications on Carlton Hill(Near Standhill Road)

  3. Route 39 Did indeed run from Wollaton & ran to Carlton Post Office Square via Derby Road, Parliament Street. Southwell Road & Carlton Road/Hill Route 38 was the same as route 39 but terminated at Hooton Road(Top of Carlton Hill)

Chinese supermarket (Ex Hanson's) is(was) further uip Carrington Street where Colin street now is.(The section from Greyfrier Gate to Canal Street built at the same time as the Broad Marsh Centre) The photo is nearer Broard Marsh (Lucky Corner) where Dunn's was.(Now a Bank) The railings on the right were round a car park but before that Colin's Alms Houses stood.

Starting at Loughborough: Baxter Gate - The Conneries - Nottingham Road - Station Boulevard(new road) - Meadow Lane - Stanford - East Leake - Gotham - Clifton - Wilford - Trent Bridge - Midland Railway Station - Canal Street - Maid Marion Way - Friar Lane - Beastmarket Hill
  6. The row of houses went in the middle of Parliament Street went in about 1886. The Buildings between Haughton Street & Clinton street went with the building of Victoria station. Haughton Street became Clinton Street East at that time. Nottingham's prison at this time was just off this map at the bottom of Glasshouse Steet the Old Centraal Market & The Pallis were built on the site with Edward Street being "pushed" through the centre.   8. I have a very large scale map of Broad Marsh & Narrow Marsh areas dated 1881 Scale 10 feet to the mile (1/500). Map too big to scan as it is 42" x 28" The number of small court yards and alley ways is amazing By the way there was 6 pubs on Narrow Marsh later Red Lion Street /Cliff Road.

  14. Anybody heard of this book? Men of Nottingham and Notts By Robert Mellors Published in 1924 It contains brief biographical details of 500 notable Nottingham(& shire) men & Women. I recently acquired a copy for £5.

There are no buildings opposite the Post Office on Station Road on my map dated July 1952 But ......................... there are some small buildings at the junction of Carlton Hill ,Cavendish Road & Windsor Avenue. House numbers 2 Windsor Avenue, 2,4 & 6 Carlton Hill. The building next door to the Post Office is numbered 146 Statioin Road. PS My grand parents ran a grocers shop on Burton Road till 1958/9 I lived there till 1953 when we moved into a new council house on Welbeck Avenue.
