  1. denshaw, I was at Trent Bridge from 1955 until 1959 so I probably wouldn't have known him.
  2. Interesting comments, jackson, piggy and babs. Come to think of it, all your comments are interesting...lol. Reading about Mrs Collier made me realise your not a lady to be messed with, piggy and babs...lol
  3. Compo, like everyone else I'm loving your photos. I've only been to Scotland a couple of times, once to Oban for a holiday and once to various places whilst working. It's a beautiful country and I enjoyed my time there.
  4. Thanks jackson, wouldn't it be nice if one day I got a knock on the door. The thing is, they were too young to know where I lived. My reward is that for a short time they had some happiness in their lives. My hope is that they would find a lasting happiness in their lives. I never think of a different scenario.
  5. Congratulations Fynger and Martine. My best wishes to you both.
  6. I saw George Melly at the Dancing Slipper many years ago. He was a real character on the Jazz and Blues scene and it was a great show. It was sad the way his life ended. I didn't go often but the times I did I always found the Dancing Slipper a great place to be.
  7. Thanks, Deeps. I appreciate your nice comment.
  8. There were places in Nottingham selling unleaded for £1-36 per litre. The place on Wollaton Vale, mentioned by taxi ray, always bumps it's price up at the first opportunity.
  9. Stu, thanks for that. One thing I've noticed about this site is that if you want to know something the members will strive to find the answers, or photos, for you.
  10. I was a Foster Carer and had 49 children over the years. 99% of the time were really happy times. I had two sons of my own and decided from day one that any foster child would be treated as my own. Without going into any detail many of the children had experienced horrific and tragic times and it was heartbreaking to hear them. Not all of them were like this. I remember a young girl having a baby with her boyfriend and her parents kicking her out of the house. She had nowhere to live so the baby was placed with us. I allowed the mother to visit my home daily to feed and love her baby and when
  11. Reading all the comments and seeing the photos of the Arboretum has made me want to go there in the summer. I can't remember ever paying a visit there although I did nearly buy a house next to it many years ago. I remember that it had a high wall around it for security and was the perfect place but I got gazumped (?). I'm pleased that I was really because my whole life would have been different. Can you take dogs into the Arboretum because I have an Old English Sheepdog and also, can you get any refreshments there?.
  12. I agree it's sad to see the demise of the local pubs but if they are only getting a handful of customers in how can they survive?. The prices go up and up and most people can't afford it anymore.
  13. I've enjoyed reading the posts from you all regarding 'Jean's Memories'. One of the things that comes to my mind is that my parents had just survived the Second World War and times were extremely hard. Many buildings lay in ruin and many of those that were left were in poor condition. You see on the pages of the Nottstalgia Forums of the poor equipment that they had to use in their daily life and the hardships they were forced to endure. I then began to think of what our grandchildren would think of our lives of today. Our's is a life of comfort and privilege with homes full of the latest tech
  14. For a long time I'd been thinking of taking my video camera to my Mum's and filming us as we spoke of the family and the olden days. I would have gotten so much info from her memories. Unfortunately, I left it too long and she became ill and passed away, I'll always regret not doing it.
  15. denshaw, It's possible but I don't recall his name. I was in the 'A' stream throughout my school life and maybe he was in something else. Is he on either of the photos?.
  16. Trent Bridge Boys Senior School 1959. I'm the 5th from the left on the back row (wearing the white shirt).
  17. Thanks, Fynger. How did you do that and where did you get the photo from?. The photo is Trent Bridge Senior Boys School in 1955/6. I am the fair haired boy second left on the back row.
  18. ERROR. If you make a mistake how do you delete the post?
  19. In the 60's my girlfriend was working as a Temp for a solicitor in the Market Square. We used to meet up every lunchtime in the Square and have lunch together in the sunshine. Regarding Albert Brown, I think he only became so renowned was because he was the only overt homosexual person around at the time.
  20. Does anyone know the names of the teachers at Trent Bridge Boys Senior School during the years 1955 until 1959? I can only remember these few: Mr. Green - Headmaster Mr. Acklam - P.E. Mr. Currah - French 'Pop' Williams - Music 'Piggy' Roberts - Woodwork Mr. Walker - English
  21. Good thinking regarding the boxes, Pixie. The experts always ask if the owner has them because it makes a big difference to the value. It's also the same with toys.
  22. Fynger, thanks for your advice regarding the missing photos. Your help is always appreciated. I sent this same post hours ago but I must have lost it as I struggled to put the photos on.
  23. Meadow Lane, Sneinton Hermitage, St. Stephen's Rd, Sneinton Hollows, Thurgarton St., Sneinton Bvd., Colwick Rd.
