They were big mate and the front of the barge seemed a long way off, set the engine speed to 2100rpm and away you go, I fitted hydraulic steering to the tugs the originals having chains, quadrants and pulleys Rog

Brown water navy Phil, No after doing a service or repair on these tugs/barges I used to take them out on test, so might as well go all the way to Long Eaton dig and load up with upto 90 tons of raw material then go back to the processing plant at Attenborough loaded, a quick check on the jobs I'd done before handing it over to the operator, good fun but wouldn't want to do it all day Rog

I operated this 52 foot dumb barge and tug with 90 ton of sand and gravel on board as well as a dozen or so school kids who visited the site from Attenborough to Long Eaton dig and back Rog

Been like that for over twenty years that I know to, apparently the guy who bought it was refused planning permission to modernise it, or knock it down and start again The farmyard I put the photo's on is not abandoned it is a fully working farm Rog -

What a wet morning, brightened up a bit now, well I've been reading through the pages of the local (to me) web site, someone complaining about kids down the next village shouting and carrying on, I replied "Sooner hear that than be deaf) well talk about opening the floodgates of abusive answers I received, what is it with people who only see bad in young people and are hell bent on condemning their every action, comments from "bad parenting" to "feral kids", well they got a few proper Nottingham answers from me and it seems to have made the problem worse, you got to laugh aint you

Anyroad to get back on topic, today I went to the nearest petrol station (Hykeham A46) to fuel up the car, had a coffee when I got back then decided to wash the car, something therapeutic about washing the car, ran out of car shampoo so had to use next best thing which was Radox Bath Soak, I now have a very relaxed car, the monthly local magazines were delivered to me when I was doing the car and looking at the local weather forecast for tomorrow (I usually deliver the mags on a Saturday) it said heavy rain/showers so decided to deliver them today, 45 copies the other end of the village 40 min
